The key fob/node works fine on the doors to lock and unlock. The car starts fine, but will not go to the far left to turn off. I must go to the engine battery and unhook it, then I can turn the minivan off. Then reconnect battery to drive....so irritating. One mechanic says its reprogramming the system, the other says its a gear - cable issue. Will take to dealer tomorrow.

Update from Apr 15, 2015: I complained about the engine not turning off as the ignition would not turn past ACC unless I disconnected the battery. I took it to the dealer and after 2 days they discovered it was a bad shift box/module.

I have been on the phone "for the first available representative" for 2 hours!!!! It would have been much easier to speak with a Maytag repair man!!! So you do have a sense of humor, but this problem is not funny. In fact it is extremely dangerous and could have caused a fatal accident on more that one occasion!!!! The last time was just 3 days ago with my mother: I was on a blind curve with no where to pull off. As I was able to get it started while in neutral, it jerked to the other side of the road. It was a blessing that a car was not coming the other way. That day it shut down 4 times in a 5 minute period.

I received a prior note card indicating that there was going to be a recall and we would receive more information later. Just yesterday while watching a GM commercial did I realize that this is what was happening with my van!!!

I called my local Chrysler service department to ask about this problem, after I found the recall on the internet, they did NOT volunteer the information but after I told them about the recall, they immediately had answers. And this is when I called and got to be put on hold for over 2 hours "to speak with the first available representative. Thank you".

I am currently looking for a job after working in the same company for over 32 years. I have patience, have a sense of humor, able to type and feel my way around a computer and last but not least I am able to diagnose some vehicle problems. After being on hold this long I KNOW that there must be openings.....contact me before your earliest convenience and we may be able to help each other. The one may even prevent a potential lawsuit. FYI....and to think that I always told people that I loved my T&C. I do hope that we are able to rectify this problem before it becomes a statistic!!!

I started having problems turning the ignition to the off position, only once in a while at first. It would go no further than the "acc" position. Which means the engine could be stopped running but the key couldn't come out and the radio couldn't be shut off and couldn't get the lights to turn off. I thought for about a month when it started happening that I was doing something to cause it.

Then I started paying attention to the whole thing and realized it was nothing I was doing different - I've driven a car for 40 years after all. I thought maybe just starting it again and moving it into drive and back into park might help, like maybe it wasn't all the way engaged in park. I'd try to turn the key to off and I could do this process half a dozen times at one time. Then I started trying to figure out if I had to kinda angle the key because I thing point I'm realizing something is wrong with the ignition. I've tried to be extremely careful and try to keep the key totally straight without angling up, down or sideways. Nothing works all the time. This problem is now happening about 75% of the time the van is driven. I always worry every single time I have to drive it now whether that will be the time I can't get the key to the off position

This may be a six year old vehicle but only has about 45,000 miles on it. We inherited this van from my parents after they passed away three years ago. I've never owned a Chrysler before and I never will again. I won't pay to have this fixed. We didn't cause this. This is a defect that we inherited with the van. When it does get to the point where it will never turn all the way off again, that repair and all costs associated with it, will be paid for by Chrysler.

Tried to start my car, key would not turn, and brake pedal felt "hard" (I could not press it down). Tried turning wheel to unlock steering wheel, but that wasn't problem. Finally hit upon disconnecting battery purely by luck. This allowed car to start, and worked okay for a few days. Then happened again, so I called & had it towed to dealer. They couldn't recreate problem, and showed no diagnostic code error.

Next time it happened, dealer said I needed a new battery. Replaced. Happened again, dealer still claims they can't recreate it, so I have no solution other than the "temporary" one of disconnecting & reconnecting the battery.

Update from May 30, 2013: I should add that car will not start with remote starter either when this occurs.

Key sticks in ignition intermittently, cannot turn completely to off position. Have to jiggle the gear shift until it clicks, then key can be turned & removed.

This originally occurred while under warranty, but dealer claimed could not recreate. Once it was out of warranty, they knew exactly what was wrong & said I could replace some switch in the ignition for a mere $450!

This occurs more frequently when it is hot. It is a pain to have to spend 10 minutes trying to dislodge the key, but the car does turn off & I never have any problem with starting it, so I will live with it.

I hate the 2008 T&C...I have had more problems with electrical & so on than for every other car I have owned combined!
