At random times, perhaps once every 200 miles average, the engine will suddenly turn off. This usually happens during turns or when speeding up from a stop. When this happens, I lose all power steering and engine control. This has resulted in 4 near-misses while turning corners with other vehicles in the area. The engine starts right back up again, but the vehicle must be put in neutral or park to restart - again, in mid-turn or as traffic is accelerating around me. This issue is listed on the NHTSA recall site (campaign 14V373000), but is not associated with my VIN.

While driving, my 2010 Chrysler Town and country will completely shut down. I have no brakes, no steering control and my engine completely does. It happens at times when I am coasting or driving at a slower speed. I have 2 little kids and it is terrifying when I've lost complete control of my vehicle, and I need to try and move off the road or try and restart it at an intersection with traffic all around me. There is no pattern to the shut down, it just happens sporadically. I've been reading, and it seems that there are a ton of complaints of the same thing happens to other people! please please consider this issue as a serious and dangerous defect to the vehicle.

My wife was driving our 2010 Town and country on 10/12/2020 when the van suddenly died and as a result loss of power steering and brakes. She was able to put van in neutral, restart the van, and regain power steering and brakes. This is the sixth or seventh time this has happened so she knows this is a possibility and is prepared but this ridiculous to have so many documented instances and still no recall. Van has approximately 125,000 miles.

Problems with the wiring and fuses that move the front drivers and passenger seat. The wires are hot and the fuse blows constantly. Resulting in the seats being stationary and not working. I've had several mechanics look at this and have replaced the fuses about 30 times. The only thing I have not done yet is have the seats completely rewired to get the power seats working. This has been an issue since my husband purchased this van about 5 yrs ago. I cannot drive our van because the seats are stuck. I've talked to other Town and country owners that are having similar issues.

I was driving straight on a rural, two lane road at 45mph. The road was slightly hilly and conditions were clear. The van abruptly lost power and I could not steer. I waited for it to coast to a stop, put the vehicle in park and re-started the key. The van started right up and I continued driving.

I was at a red light at a city block intersection. When the light turned green, I started to accelerate, then the van immediately lost power. I was able to turn the hazard lights on. I could not steer, accelerate, brake. The van slowed to a stop and I turned the key to on (it had twisted to acc on its own.) the van started back up and I continued on my drive.

I was driving straight at 40-45mph on a slightly hilly, two lane road with no curbs. The weather was clear, traffic was moderate. With no warning, all driving power went off and I couldn't steer or brake. I could still put the hazard lights on. I had to wait for the van to coast to a stop. Then I turned the key to on and the vehicle started back up. Thankfully, I didn't get hit or drive into a ditch. I had a van full of kids and was so scared.

Entire car shut down while in motion, ran off road, no brake control, by the grace of god, I nor anyone else was killed or seriously injured. I have had to replace the tipm twice in the 1 year I owned the vehicle. First issue I had was with the vehicle not starting after many attempts while in a undesirable location. The second time the tipm was replaced was after my headlights would either work or not work and sometimes only one headlight would turn on. It was sporadic. This could lead to safety issues.

  • 77,000 miles
2010 Chrysler Town and country will click once, but will not turn over. This issue typically happens when the vehicle has been running for a while, and the engine is hot, or during hotter months. This causes car to not turn on when hot, not over heated, just hot. This has been noted on many other websites for this same year and people believe it has something to do with the transmission sensor not knowing if the car is in park or drive. This has happened to other years causing vehicle to slip into other gears. This could be considered dangerous. This has been occurring on vehicle since three months after purchase from dealer with no check engine lights coming on or any running issues.

Parked van on driveway and opened passenger side rear door. As it often does, it tried to close back up on my arm, so I stepped back, let it close, then opened it again. Confirmed the power door was staying open, then unloaded my bags. Closed door and locked van with keyfob (can see this on security camera footage). Ten hours later, the locked hatch opened on its own and within ten minutes the back of the van was smoking, then engulfed in flames. Entire van burned down, starting at back passenger side. Also burned down truck parked next to it on driveway. [van was mfrd in August of 2009] consumer stated when in park van refuses to start, it has to be in neutral 99% of the time, and several times it would not work had to shift back to park for it to start.
