My car "smart" window feature that rolls the window down a bit when you get out then lets it back up decided to just not quit even when the car is off. I caught it happening a few days ago, but I wonder now how long it has actually been doing it and I just didn't realize. While the car is off, when I get out as usual to park it for the day, the window rolls itself down and up about every 12-15 seconds continuously. I have read about this issue, and others said it will drain your battery, so I have been just taking the battery cable off after it's parked at the house. I also read that this was recalled on the 2011 model for the same issue, but not the 2012, and I cannot for the life of me understand why not. If it is the same issue, why is it not being recalled? I called Dodge customer service to report the problem, and have it scheduled for repair. I was told it was not involved in any recall and I would have to pay out of pocket.

I have read other customers reports who say that this is about a $500 repair. The dealership would not give me an estimate without looking at it to see what the problem is. When I stated that this seemed to be a typical issue and I just assumed he might know how much it had cost in the past to repair for other customers, the service technician I spoke with said he had only heard about this one other time. However, reading online, it seems to be a VERY common issue with this model car. It is an older car with higher mileage so there are things I expect to have to replace and repair, but this was not one of them. I have overall enjoyed this car immensely, but this is a repair that I must have done immediately in order to keep being able to operate the vehicle (because of the battery draining problem), which is why I rated it higher on the "aggravation" scale.

I got a 2012 Dodge Challenger V-6. The Smart Windows keep going up and down by themselves 1/4 inch while the car is off and is killing and draining the battery every night. There is an even a recall for 2011 for the same damn part M24 but it stops for models after March 2011 and my car was finished August 2011. When I called the Chrysler recall number They said sorry your car was finished 5 months after the Recall date. I was pissed and apparently you have to replace the whole door latch assembly switch.

Does anyone know the actual name of that switch assy. and place and part number you can buy it at for a good price? Cuz I'm not taking it to the dealership to get fixed. Screw them! they're a ripoff and refused to acknowledge this problem occurs in ALL CHALLENGERS 2010-2013. I need a part number for the driver side and pass side and the actual nomenclature or part name and a place that sells the at a good price. Please send me info.

Challenger R/T 5.3L

Passenger side smart window rolls down an inch and back up every 11 seconds when the car is turned off and doors are shut.Drains the battery overnight. I read where there was a recall for 2011 Challengers but after checking with NHST website and dealer I see this is an out of pocket expense fix for 2012 Challenger owners.

Challenger SXT V6

The driver's window ran continuously in attempt to seal. This caused the battery to die. Not covered under warranty. Had to replace battery on my own when the dead battery was caused by a window problem. Fortunately, I had free towing and had the vehicle towed to the dealership. They also gave me a loaner until they could fix the problem. After nearly 2 years with no issues, the window sporadically has started doing this again.
