On my way to work June 11th I was at a red light. When the light turned green I stepped on the gas petal and the there was a loud bang in the rear of the vehicle. I was taking a right turn and realized the car was not moving but the RPM's were increasing. I was able to get the car to side of the road. I could not put the car into park or shut the vehicle off. I called the local dodge dealer and was advised that I had to call roadside assistance. I called and a tow was out to get me in about 45 minutes. I could not get out of the vehicle as I had to keep my foot on the brake not knowing if the car would roll (could not put It in park or shut it off). The car was towed to the dealer still running. The dealer had to manually shut the car down. The dealer did not have a loaner available for me so I was given a ride to work. I called dodge corporate to discuss my situation. I was assigned a case and was advised that I would be approved for a loaner once the dealer had diagnosed the car. The dealer diagnosed the car later that day and was told the problem was the transmission and it had to be replaced. I did receive a loaner that was covered by dodge (it's a Chevy). Today I received an email from the parts manager at dodge corporate advising that the new transmission will not be available until July 10th. I am so dissatisfied with Dodge. I will have lost over a month without my vehicle. There is no acceptable reason why transmission should fail with a brand new vehicle with 5,000 miles. I have requested that they look at my case to replace the car. I drive almost 70 miles a day and worried that if the transmission is replaced it will not run properly. Definitely a lemon!!

Update from Aug 1, 2013: Over 45 days and the repair is not complete. The drive train split in half. The dealer seems to think that it is a machining issue with the transfer case. The dealer received the transmission but did not get the transfer case. Still waiting for delivery of the part....
