Durango Limited 5.7L Hemi V8

The dash board lights/ warning lights go off and on, and the odometer and rpm gauges bounce from zero to like 5000 rpm while driving. The ac and radio and dvd and navigation all shut off and on also while driving. I took it to Crown Motors om June 21 and had a diagnostic tests ran and nothing came up all was fine. They told me to bring it back in when it did it and to leave it run when i go inside to let them know. I took back down there on June 24 as it was doing it all again. They immediately took it back to the shop and stated you definitely have something wrong. They told after an hour that they could only get the reading up to the ECM and anything after that it is not showing up that it is dead. They called the lead engineer at Dodge to try and find a solution. I talked to them on June 25 and still no answer. They told me they had to put $10 in gas and was going to charge that to me as they lost the signal to diagnostic sue to turning the vehicle off. they drove around four different times to try and reestablish the problem and has not happened. I called them today June 27,2013 and told I could come and pick up the vehicle as they can not get the vehicle to do the problems again to reestablish the connections. They also said if it happens again to just bring it back over so they can reestablish the connection for the problems. I know that there has been recalls for the electrical system on these vehicles. They dealer told they were all closed out and my vehicle was not one of them. Still have not resolve the problems with my 2006 Durango. I do not feel comfortable driving my family around in it due to a possible fire like some have had or the engine shutting off going down the highway.

The sunroof on these vehicles is set up horribly. When the drain lines get clogged it messes up your entire electrical system as it leaks right into the fuse box. Nitemare.

Durango Limited V8 Hemi

  • Automatic transmission
  • 36,000 miles

Within 2 weeks of purchasing my 2006 Durango for $18,000.00 / 35,000 miles on it, I had two $500.00 bills. This one was the Alternator and Pulley System. I even bought a very comprehensive extended warranty which didn't help me a whole hell of a lot. Nevertheless, I really love the vehicle! This Limited version is awesome! The Alpine speaker system is unbelievable and it rides and drives great!

Durango SLT 5.7L

Just had a check engine light come on; a $115.00 later at Firestone, they gave me several print outs that point to a transmission solenoid issue. I guess I get to haggle with the dealer tomorrow.

Update from Sep 27, 2010: Wellllll.......the check engine light turned out to be a transmission fault.A transmission Solenoid Module to be exact. So off to the dealer. Transmission repair = $800. Good thing I bought the Chrysler Extended Service Plane when I bought the junk when it went off lease. While I was at the the dealer I mentioned a "clunking" feel in the steering column sitting at a stoplight. THAT turned out to be a problem with the rack and pinion steering assembly. Had to go back yet another day to get the entire rack and pinion replaced. Service Advisor said that would have been another $1300.00. Got it all done for the $100 deductible on the Service Plan. Moral #1: Don't buy Chrysler Junk. And if you do, Moral #2: GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM CHRYSLER ONLY!

I have a 2006 Durango whit many computer problems.

The first time the check engine light turn on because the computer "lost communication" with the gas sensor. (621 miles) august 2006.

The second time the check engine, airbags, parking brake, traction control, seatbelt, etc . turn on because the computers "lost communication" whit everything. (1864 miles) October 2006.

What a piece af trash.

I miss my Explorer.
