The contact owns a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that the air bag warning light flashed and suddenly remained illuminated. In addition, the cruise control failed to activate. The contact received a manufacturer's recall related to the air bags, but the part was not available. The manufacturer was contacted and could not provide an estimated date for when the contact's vehicle would receive the recall repair. The failure mileage and NHTSA campaign number were unavailable. When turning a corner air bag light went on and off. Then, horn went out, and cruise control failed. Recall 02V293000 was issued for 1996 and 1998, but none for this vehicle.
I have a problem with my 1999 Grand Caravan, the air bag light is on and the horn will not blow, and the cruise won't work. I got in contact with Chrysler and they told me they don't know of a recall. It is dangerous to drive a car with no horn, and what if the airbag comes out and cause an accident.
Airbag light came on, horn doesn't work, cruise control doesn't work. Took it to the dealer said that there had been some recalls on it but not on my model...did some research and found that this is a consistant problem on the Caravan including my model.
While driving/idling the horn/cruise control failed to work. Air bag light illuminated intermittently. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.
Air bag light stays on. There is no horn or cruise control either. Dealer refuses to repair, saying the extended warranty does not cover any air bags or safety restraint system.
I have a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan, with a failed clockspring. I found recalls for this, but my dealer says that my VIN. # isnt covered. I dont understand how other models are covered and mine is not.
When vehicle is started air bag light comes on and stays on. When air bag light comes on neither horn nor or cruise control work. Consumer feels that the clock spring is the problem, but is not absolutely sure.
Clock assembly faulty on 1999 Grand Caravan. This vehicle is used as a company van. First aiirbag light came on then the cruise control and horn stopped working. Twice in emergency situations the horn did not work. Had clock assembly replaced at a cost of $304.53. This seems to be a manufacturer problem and a recall should be in place.
Re: 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan had intermittent and then constant air bag light followed shortly thereafter by simultaneous loss of cruise control & horn.
We have been complaining that there is something wrong with the transmisson since September 1999. The dealer said that the computer shows in spec. The speed sensor went and the van could not shift gears. Replaced and failed again taking out the speedometer. Told it was just a lose wire this time. The dealer told me that all 1998-99 vehicles have the same rev of sensor and Chrysler will not replace them until the fail. At the same time the airconditioner failed -told that the condenser failed due to leaves rotting the system. A vacuum hose failed and another one came lose. Now the trans shudders when shifting. Told that the tran is built like this and most people don't notice it. Chrysler is aware of the problem but won't fix it. Dealer suggested that I not keep this vehicle past warranty as it will continue to fail and become costly to me. They also told me my expectations were too high and I should have purchased a foreign vehicle if I wanted reliability. I contacted Chrysler. Their cust service said that they are only concerned with fixing the vehicle and not building customer relations. I was told that managers will not speak to customers. My wife was almost rear ended when the transmission failed and is afraid to drive the vehicle.
