The contact owns a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shutoff and stalled without warning. Additionally, while operating the vehicle, the front headlights became inoperable and the instrument cluster malfunctioned. The cause of the failures were not determined. The local dealer lithia Chrysler located at 1421 N.E. 6th St grants pass, or 97526-1253, was notified of the failures. The manufacturer was not yet notified. The contact owns a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan. Ever since the vehicle was purchased new in 1999, the contact noticed that the headlamps were dim. When she took the vehicle to the dealer, they laughed at her. The failure progressively worsened. She had the bulbs replaced and recently had the headlamps polished; however, the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was out of warranty and is the contact's problem. The failure mileage was 230,000 and current mileage was 280,000. Updated 09/10/08. The tailgate was replaced 3 times. The sliding doors would not open. The consumer stated the headlights have crystallized to the point it creates shadows on the road. Updated 09/012/08.
The planetary set from the automatic transmission was discovered broken by the dealer after the vehicle would not start. Headlights were to dim on the vehicle.
While driving at night headlight lenses were cloudy. This caused poor visibility to the driver. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection. However, mechanic could not duplicate the problem.
The head lights do not provide enough illumination, the consumer has upgraded 3 bulds to the brightest lights possible but the still have very little illumination, the consumer refused to drive the vehicle at night due to poor visibility. Nlm
