This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The seat belts in my 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan keep seizing. It is very difficult to buckle the belts and then once they are buckled it is even more difficult to unbuckle the belts.
I would like to complain that daimler Chrysler is still installing seatbelts (gen3) in their vehicles and has not issued a recall on previous year models to replace the faulty seatbelts. This is extremely important to ensure the safety of passengers as well as drivers of these vehicles. I would like to be able to get free replacement of my buckles of my minivan and see that this sort of nonsense regarding the safety of passengers in vehicles is stopped now, before others are seriously injured or killed as a result. This sort of information regarding faulty buckles is extremely disturbing and something needs to be done.
On 4/30/03 I purchased a 1999 Dodge Caravan. I was very happy with the vehicle and came home with a big smile on my face. I turned on the news only to see a story about the gen3 seat belts. These are obviously flawed. I trust the NHTSA to do the proper reviewing and see the hazard that these belts present. Do the right thing and push for a recall. My family's lives depend on you. You have a louder voice than I will ever have.
While placing a purse on the floor next to the driver's seat, the driver's seat belt buckle inadvertantly released. Also, while a paseenger in the center bench seat was buckling their seatbelt, the seatbelt on the child's booster seat next to it released.
