it is shame that we try to patronize our own manufacturer but they sale us with a cheap, problematic vans. But they don't even try to help the consumers that buy their product. I will no longer buy an American made van. this was my second chrysler van. it gave me a lot of problems not even lasted for three years. first problem that i have was the transmission gave up at 9900+ miles, 2nd was the brakes they put a cheap brake pads it did not even last for a year, 3rd was now my biggest problem the air condition it was leaking at the line called the dealer told me the warranty run out 3/36000 yrs/miles which ever comes first, my mileage was only 34000. i think, we need to make a sign attach to our van windows to warn all buyers to watch out for any dodge product. what do you think consumers?

The A/C stopped working for a second time. WTF! The dealer acted as if this was a common problem. This was one of many problems we have had on this van. It is a shame. These vans have the best features but they are made so cheap. We chose Chrysler (before the second buyout) to help America. We are buying a used Honda Odyssey when our lease it up. Shame on you Chrysler.

The A/C stopped working for third time. The dealer acted as if this was a common problem during previous contacts. Factory warranty expired (3/36.) We bought the extended warranty but it has a $100 deductible (per problem.) F*ck it. The lease is up, it is now winter, they can fix it in the spring. This was one of many problems we have had on this van. It is a shame. These vans have the best features but they are made so cheap. We chose Chrysler (before the second buyout) to help America. To hell with that. We are buying a used Honda Odyssey when our lease it up. They may not have all the same features but they are built a million time better. Shame on you Chrysler.

July 2009 our A/C stopped working on our van at about 20,000 miles. The dealship said it was a recalled hose and they fixed right away. BUT the A/C has gone out again pretty much 1 year later at 29,000 mile! I have an appointment to get it fixed this next week and if it's the same part they'll fix it again and if not it should fall under warranty, hopefully ... Just pretty much an inconvenience. Other then that this van has been great! And we like it .. most of the time ;)

Dealer said the AC discharge hose was designed to be too short, causing a kink in the hose. The kink allowed too much pressure to build up in the hose causing coolant to leak. My hose was replaced after about a week of waiting for the part to be delivered.

After having the system recharged and it all leaking out within a day, went back to tell them there was a hose leaking. Hose not covered under warranty (surprise) and expensive, plus paying for freon again.

Grand Caravan SXT 3.8L V6

Van had some mileage on it, but that shouldn't have had much effect on the A/C. A/C was blowing warm air. Took it in for service and had it recharged (with dye). Good thing, or maybe not. As soon as it was recharged, I could hear and locate the leak. It was a hose just inside the grille. Wonder why the service people didn't catch that? They don't care.

AC not working. Per Chrysler the hose needed is on backorder and they can not keep up with demand. Was told 3-4 weeks and the part will be in. It's been 4 weeks and still no part. Per dealer they are getting a "big box" of parts from the manufacturer next week, but have no idea if its enough to cover all the vehicles that need to. I called Chrysler 1-800-247-9753 to see what they would/do to assist. My issue was escalated to a tier 2 department and I should have a response tomorrow by 8:00 PM. Doubt it will do any good. We have also had power steering hose blow 3 times will log that under a different topic.

After a long winter, the first time I went to use my A/C was last week once the weather brought us 90 degrees weather. I found that no air was blowing out yet recalled that last year it was great all summer (my 1st summer with the vehicle). Took it to a radiator shop for a freon recharge, left feeling good. The next day there was no more air. Took it back on Monday, 5/24/10 and asked him to recheck. Kept overnight and learned that once pressure goes up to 350 lbs its okay, then it colls down to 250lbs and it goes out after expelling all of the freon through the hoses. He also mentioned that the air seeps through the compressor and through the seals at this time. Also mentioned there is a national backorder of compressors for this model and mentioned hoses but felt that it was the compressor and fan issue. A little confusing but I'm out of warranty and need a remedy.

If anyone has dealt with this issue and can offer any insight I would love it.

Thank you .... former Dodge/Chrysler supporter ...

I purchased this used vehicle with 32K in Feb 09; this year, went to use A/C and blowing out warm air. Took to Radiator garage for freon and informed fixed. Took home for weekend and no AC left in system. Went back on Monday and said there are major issues. Tried to order replacement compressor and told there is a nationwide shortage of them. Radiator guy said after it ran for awhile the fan would kick off and on; once you drove it after heating up it would expell all of the freon once again. Have an appt at the dealer tomorrow ... hope they can resolve and assist with replacing ... also, out of warranty at 55,800...

Purchased the van new in February of 2008 (26 months ago) Turned on AC for the first time this year and guess what? Warm air. Took it to a Dodge dealership in Cleveland, Tenn. to have it repaired. Had a defective part that had let all the gas leak out. The part was hard to find because it seems quite a few other people had the same problem.

Sounds like a recall item to me.

Stupid piece of crap Dodge Caravan, AC stopped working after 15 months. It's a brand new vehicle.

I have an appointment to bring it in. The service guy said with a lot of certainty that it would be an easy repair. I suspect he knows the problem already, this must happen a lot.
