Vehicle was running and then when turned off it wouldn't start. Thought it might be battery though I hadn't had any warning that I was having a battery problem previously. Purchased battery starter. Hooked it up and let it run and recharge battery. Trying to recharge several times. Not able to start vehicle but it seemed like it wanted to start. No luck so I had to call Triple A. Triple A came out and tried to start it with battery jumper. Triple A couldn't get the vehicle started. Said wasn't battery. Triple A then called for a tow truck. Had it towed to Dealer repair. The repair shop thought it was battery. They replaced battery and it still wouldn't start. Got charged for new battery. Told it was the computer TIPM that was defective. Price shock of over $1600. Merry Christmas. Now I find out that these vehicles have had a problem from the auto industry with the TIPM units. I don't think that it is fair that I have to pay for defective parts. Told it will take weeks to get a new TIPM unit for the vehicle. So I am without any vehicle for the whole Holiday season. TIPM Totally Integrated Power Module a very expensive unit to replace. Not very happy. If you know of a recall that will pay for this unit and service it would be greatly appreciated.

Car would crank but not start. Ended up getting it to start briefly after getting a new battery put in. Drove it to the shop down the street and was told that the throttle body needed to be cleaned out. That didn't fix the problem. Then told that it needed a full tune up and all the spark plugs replaced and that should fix it. Which of course didn't. They also said the thermostat blew and they had to replace that as well. Finally they said that the gas pedal assembly needed to be replaced because there was problems with the sensor. $1100 for all of this work, and the $200 for the battery, meant $1300 and the problem not fixed. Even though the shop said it was fixed on both occasions.. Finally the car completely died - dead battery (brand new mind you) and the shop took the car back again. After many more tests they said that the TIPM was bad and needed to be replaced, and that should correct the crank no start. Quoted another $1388 to replace the TIPM and another week to wait to pick it up. In total the car has been in the shop for 3 weeks and now a total of $2700. There's of course no recall for the TIPM on this car, even though there have been class action lawsuits to Chrysler that the TIPM's clearly cause issues with other components in the car.

Van cranks and sometimes starts, instrument cluster flashes airbag light, throttle and what not. Van sometimes dies at a stop. The throttle body and water temperature sensor were replaced - but the van stills acts up. Could need a TIPM replacement. The mechanic could not find anything wrong using the under-dash scanner port.

I don't understands why so many electricals run the mechanics today, It happened 5-6 times to date, but the truck just doesn't start. I can hear the relays click, I can see the lights goes on and off, the speed lever is locking, so the TIPM receives the start trigger from the ignition switch... BUT.... the starter doesn't start.

I tried a lot of times but with no changes, the 12v goes to the starter B+, but the power doesn't go to the solenoid, the relay clicks but no power, I was stuck within 3 kms of my house with my children, I had to walk, take the second car, to pick up my wife and kids, i let the truck sit there on a Saturday afternoon because no garages are open on Saturday and Sunday.

I asked to the dealer to check on it, but they weren't sure about the problem, I had to make a tow when the problem is active, but they won't pay for the towing, and they charge me $200 to check the problem in the first place.

Now I have to pay $200 towing to get it to the garage and wait for it to be repaired, but without warranty that they will find something. I hate to say it, but I have no more confidence with the dealers and my Caravan. As I see, I am not the only one, and Dodge has never done anything about that...

Vehicle started losing power and having a rough start and shutting off when being driven, took it the mechanic and said it was the alternator and battery.. had them replaced and the problem did not go away.

Went back to the mechanic and said it is the TIPM... had to take it to Dodge dealer... they confirmed it is the TIPM and installed a bypass kit, did not even fix the TIPM, just bypassed it and cost over $1000!!!!

This issue should be a recall because thousands of cars have reported the same exact problem for the Dodge Caravans!

So this is not the first time this has occurred. This is just the most significant in that I am stranded in Durango with my three children three days before my surgery to remove melanoma and I have no idea what to do about it. I am just incredibly frustrated that this is a problem that Dodge has known about for years and they have done nothing, NOTHING, to fix. I have been a loyal Dodge customer for over 30 years and I am done. I'll be buying anything but from now on. ANYTHING but. This problem has been occurring with increasing regularity over the last four months, but we, like all these other people, pursued other remedies, trusting in the Dodge name and product. We replaced the battery, fuses, had diagnostics run, checked the fuel pump, trusted to luck, etc. Tried the tricks found online like three tries before ignition, rock the car, pump the gas, jump the car, check the battery cables . . . Randomly she starts, and randomly she does not.

Additional issues I see now are attributable to the TIPM that I have experienced: the van has died in traffic on multiple occasions in the last six months at various speeds-almost always within 5-10 minutes of starting. It has lost the ability to accelerate randomly on the freeway, as well as experienced random surges in acceleration. The check engine light comes on randomly with no associated codes to be found by mechanics.

The ignition cranks, and cranks, and cranks, sometimes sticking in the cranking position and the motor will not engage. The battery is fine. The fuel pump is currently fine. The tank has gas. My husband built a quickie relay bypass modeled on the online one by Vertical Visions, but that is not consistent. We will order one from him, but I resent like hell still owing money on a vehicle that was manufactured with a faulty TIPM that DODGE KNOWS IS FAULTY and will not fix.

Stranded with three kids in a car that the manufacturer should have provided a fix for long before I ever bought it. . . shame on Dodge.

engine won't turn over, won't start

On Nov 30th I called Chrysler to find out if there was a recall on my 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan because I heard there was one but found the recall was for the 2012 Version. Anyway, they still towed my van for free to the dealership to see what the issue was when I had already mentioned the TIPM system several times... Oh, There are no issues with that on the 2013 version. Low and behold, I had to pay $135 for them to repeat what I said and then tell me that the TIPM was completely dead and my fuel pump! After a bit of research I found a solution to my problem for a van I still Owe $17,000 on with a company that turned the key to check my problem but never looked under the hood. I had taken the fuse for the fuel pump out so that the battery would not be drained as it had been doing and when I came to pick the vehicle up the same fuses were still out. How do you test a vehicle system when its missing the main components that help it run? After all is said and done, they told me I needed the fuel pump replaced and my TIPM Module! I paid for this terrible info and the guys said he had a number for a tow company. On good faith, I told him I wont be needing a tow and used the item I purchased from Verticle Visions which started my car up right away! Dealerships are a ripoff and I really hope someone stops the madness that they are able to create!!!! I urge people to check youtube and google when having issues with there cars because they will do you dry and dirty at these dealerships!

Car had difficulty starting, starter cranks but wouldn't start. Horn went off for no reason. Fuel pump relay not working properly. They replaced the TIPM but charged me close to $1500 Even though other models have had recalls because of the TIPM. It has been a known problem within Dodge/Chrysler for some of their vehicles but they refuse to acknowledge this is a problem with the Dodge Caravan. Six months later have had to pay to have a ground wire connected from the battery to the transmission because of similar starting issues that they say are not related to the TIPM.

keep burning up the starter solenoid

I purchased the van in August of 2015 and in November of 2016 I started to experience problems with my starter, it would just click, so I had it replaced and about a week later it happened again so I replaced it again, since that time I have put at lease 10 starters on this vehicle and to this day it is still not working. I have put so much money into it trying to fix the problem but no luck. The van is not old enough to have this type of problems even the mechanics are stretching their heads and I would like for Chrysler to figure this one out because i'm in no position to continue to put money into this van with no good results. is there anything Chrysler can do to help resolve this problem? I'm at the end of my rope with this vehicle, I always like the Dodge Brand, but at this point I just don't know.

its been 2 months since my car occasioanlly doesnt start. After the 2nd or 3rd try it will start. It happens intermittently. I can go days with no issues and then for 2-3 days straight i have to start it 2-3 times. I approached the dealership and they told me there is nothing they can do til the car officially stops and then they can diagnose the problem. Called customer care, they said they cant do nothing until they know what the actual problem is. I only have 1 car and travel around with 3 kids and it is now th emiddle of winter. I know there is an issue but they wont do nothing. I feel stuck. Travelling with a car that i know will eventually not start anymore. Will it be today, tomorrow or next week or 3 months from now??? They simply told me, when it stops just get it towed. Anyone else have the same issue?

This van is barely 3 years old and we keep in maintained. It's obviously a financial inconvenience to replace the TIPM but we are left with no choice as we are still making monthly payments on this van and it is totally disabled, sitting at the dealership. Looking online there have been numerous complaints about a failed TIPM. Someone should really look into a recall being issued. It just isn't fair to the consumer, when it's quite obvious from all the online complaints tat this is a problem. Shame shame shame.

I met with the Service Adviser today who was very courteous, I had to have the car towed on 11/24/14 from my garage to the Crown Chrysler Dodge Dealership because it wouldn't start and the Malfunction Light and Electronic Throttle Control light were on. When I spoke with the Service Adviser today he indicated they have not found any codes leading to a problem, no issues with the fuel system. When they started it this morning a bunch of smoke came out of the tailpipe and is now running fine.

I am very concerned about the safety and health of the vehicle, I have read about issues with the TIPM (nerve center of the car) issues with Chrysler vehicles starting in August of 2014. Everything I read alludes to significant issues with the electronics with Chrysler vehicles. My rear power windows actually don't work either because there was a recall on the power switches overheating and they don't have a repair yet for them. In addition when reading about issues stemming from the ETC light coming on it talks about power issues and vehicles shutting down while on the road. My wife uses this car to get to and from work and drop off my two daughters to daycare/school, it is alarming they have no understanding of what the problem is, in fact when they got it to the shop they indicate they didn't even see the lights on that I saw. Given all the issues with Chrysler/Dodge lately I am not very trusting that there isn't an issue actually occurring and they don't want to help me with at this point. PLEASE HELP!
