The wheel vibrates when braking. It gets worse when you're braking on a decline. Kinda feels like you're going to lose control. I've had both pads and rotors replaced and still have the same issue. Asked a repairman, he said that the weight of the truck is too much for the brakes. I don't know how accurate that is, but he was pretty sure of himself. He told me that there was no fix for it and it will cause me to have to get my brakes replaced sooner than most.

I had to pay for rotor replacement because Chrysler said that rotors covered only for 12000 miles, and my car had already 20000. How is that possible if my car had bumper to bumper warranty for 36000 miles?

This problem was never really fixed, there is always vibration while braking at higher speed. I just gave up. Chrysler ignores the obvious problem, there should have been a recall for that.

Third time replacing rotor and brake pads, already had them cut at 10628 miles, replaced them at 23017. Called Dodge customer service center, no help there at all. Is Dodge just ignoring this problem? I guess the norm for the Journey is to replace rotors and brake pads together as normal maintenance. Starting to get that vibration when braking again. I guess it's time for new rotors and brake pads.

THE DODGE JOURNEY IS A GREAT CAR, BUT THE FRONT BRAKES REALLY SUCK. I HAVE HAD MANY DODGE PRODUCTS AND STILL HAVE A 1997 CARAVAN AND 1991 DAKOTA THAT STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL CALIPERS. DURING A TRIP LAST WEEK THE CALIPERS ON MY 2010 JOURNEY DID NOT FULLY RELEASE CAUSING TERRIBLE VIBRATION. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME IN THE FOUR YEARS I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE, THAT I'VE HAD HIS PROBLEM. THE FIRST WAS AT TWO YEARS AND WAS FIXED BY THE DEALER AT NO COST. THIS TIME IT WAS AWAY FROM HOME ON A TRIP. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND A LOCAL DODGE DEALER DID THE REPAIRS. BOTH SIDES WERE BAD. ALTHOUGH THE CALIPERS WERE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY I HAD TO PAY FOR THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS THAT THE DEFECTIVE CALIPERS DESTROYED. THE TOTAL BILL WAS $382.00. MY 1997 VAN , WHICH I BOUGHT NEW, HAS 149000 MILES ON IT. I JUST PUT ON MY SECOND SET OF FRONT BRAKES. I AM GETTING 70,000 MILE ON A SET OF BRAKES ON MY 1997 CARAVAN. MY JOURNEY IS GETTING ABOUT 9000 MILES PER SET AND THEN LOCK UP. WHAT IS IRRITATING IS THAT CHRYSLER HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS BRAKE PROBLEMS FOR YEARS. ALL MY SERVICE ON THE JOURNEY HAS BEEN DONE AT THE DEALER BECAUSE OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND NOT A WORD SAID. MY 1997 CARAVAN AND 1991 DAKOTA IS SERVICED AT MEINIKE WITH NON CHRYSLER PARTS WITH NO SURPRISE PROBLEMS. MY GRIPE RANT YELL, IS IF WARRANTY PARTS DESTROY NON WARRANTY PARTS ALL PIECES SHOULD BE PAID FOR AND IF CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT A PROBLEM THAT THEY INFORM THE OWNERS SO WE CAN HAVE THE CAR CHECK OUT BEFORE YOUR CAR BREAKS DOWN ON HIWAY 30 ON A HOLIDAY WEEKEND. I WAS LOOKING INTO A NEW CARAVAN TO REPLACE MY 1997. NOT SO MUCH ANYMORE. I REALLY THINK CHRYSLER SHOULD REFUND ALL MONEY SPENT BY CUSTOMERS TO REPAIR A COMPANY KNOWN DEFECT. FIAT YOU STEPPED INTO A BAG OF WORMS!

I PURCHASED MY JOURNEY IN 10/2013, I HAD NO PROBLEMS FOR 7 MONTHS . ALL OF A SUDDEN IN JUNE 2014 THE SUV STARTED TO SHAKE A LITTLE AND KIND OF PULL. WITHIN 2 WEEKS IT SHAKES AND SHUDDERS LIKE NOBODY'S BUSINESS. THE SHEERING WHEEL SHAKES TOO AND FEELS LIKE IT'S GOING TO SHUT OFF. IT HASN'T SHUT OFF YET, BUT IT'S PRETTY SCARY AND CONCERNING. I DRIVE A LOT WITH MY GRANDSON IN THE CAR AND IT DOESN'T FEEL SAFE!!!!!!

AFTER CHECKING THE INTERNET I SEE THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ON-GOING AND CHRYSLER/DODGE DOESN'T SEEM TO REALLY GIVE A DAM! (JUST BUY OUR PRODUCT AND THE H*LL WITH IF IT'S SAFE OR NOT! MOST OF US ARE STILL MAKING PAYMENTS AND RUNNING BACK AND FORTH TO MECHANICS WHILE PAYING ONCE AGAIN IS NOT THEIR CONCERN! BUT IT IS!!!!!!

HELP US OUT CHRYSLER, RECALL OR FIX THE PROBLEM. I KNOW THEY HAVE EXTENDED SOME WARRANTIES BUT WHAT THE REST OF US WITH DYSFUNCTIONAL VEHICLES OUT OF THE WARRANTIES???????? I HAVE NEVER OWNED A DODGE BEFORE AND WAS REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THIS ONE, BUT I THINK THIS WILL BE MY LAST!

I had told the Chrysler dealer of the issue of brake vibration on a routine maintenance inspection. I had heard of a recall of 2009 brakes from a friend in the U.S. who had his replaced. I was told it was not an issue on the 2010 brakes. When I got the vehicle back I was told it was just a caliper issue and they were reset. I was told that the brakes were fine now, and the vibration had stopped.

In May of 2010 I brought the vehicle in for a maintenance inspection and was told that there was some wear on the front brakes. I should consider changing the pads. on the next maintenance inspection. I asked about a recall and was told there were none in the system for this vehicle, and it was not covered. I was quoted $365.00 plus labor and tax. At no time was there mention of the back brakes.

This will be the 3rd time I have had to replace the brake pads and rotors. The 1st time was April 21, 2011 with only 21727 mile on it. Then on June 28, 2012 with 29244 they needed replaced again, only this time I had to pay $100.00 deductible. Now they need to be replaced again and I have only put on about 10000 miles on it. I have notified Chrysler and they said to get a diagnoses that I have to pay for and then they will see what they can do. I am not happy with having to spend so much time with my car in the shop or having to spend money on getting brakes replace so often!

Well, after having the first repair done in about September of 2011, Here we are again with the same damn problem. The guy at the shop says that the warranty has expired. At first, they wanted to charge me $54 just to check it out. I said bullshit, so the guy said that he would have it checked out for nothing. It is currently at the dealership. We will see what they tell me about it this time.

I have a letter from a law firm stating that there are problems, Dodge has to be aware of this. If I don't get satisfaction today, I am going to call this law firm and see what they tell me. Come on, my granddaughter rides it that car, and I want it in tip top shape.

Come on Dodge, take some responsibility. We, the buying public expect to get quality products, but with this brake problem, you are really disappointing me.

Pissed Off in Mesa.

This car had minimal miles yet when you would apply the brakes, there was a terrible vibration and the steering wheel would shake back and forth. Took it to the shop and they gave me a hard time but finally said that they would cover the resurfacing of the rotors and new brakes pads. It was a fight but they fixed it.

Unacceptable. Brakes should be able to withstand the forces experienced to stop a vehicle. Driving technique is irrelevant.

At 31,000 miles received a letter saying that I could have my front rotors and brakes fixed which was nice of them considering my steering was shaking so badly on the interstate. Can't believe I purchase a new Dodge vehicle and have had this many issues. So go in to have that completed, $81 bucks later. Over the last 10 months I continue to have problems with my steering wheel shaking and they basically tell me I'm crazy and nothing wrong. Take it it today for an oil change, tell them to look at it again as there is clearly something wrong. Now they say its the back brakes and rotors that are bad and want to charge me $220 bucks. Go figure. 42,000 miles at this point. Oh and if that doesn't work they will look at the front rotors again and let me know. Nice. This is my 4th Dodge vehicle from the same dealership and at this point will be my LAST. Dodge/Chrysler you need to get it together. I'm sick of paying for your cheap, corner cutting crap.

The car itself is good but the brakes just decided to go and it felt like an earthquake with the brakes were applied. The car shook and a high pitched squeal came from the brakes. The dodge repair company said we must have been hard on the brakes. This is my wife's car. I drive fro a living and and never had this problem in any other car. My wife has been driving for a long time and only ever changed brakes after what would be considered fair wear and tear.

Update from May 27, 2018: The problem still exists. Have had three sets of brake pads on the vehicle and it has only done 100,000kms. Finally had enough and trying non genuine. So far the squealing has stopped.
