The contact owns a 1996 Ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at speeds of 45-55 mph, the vehicle experienced severe front end shakes and vibration when driving over grooved pavement. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer urness motors (505 cherry heights road, the dalles, or. 97058) and the manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 176,000. Consumer asks for safety recall and stated he could not drive on open freeway.
I was driving down the road doing about 55mph and all of a sudden started to have a bad vibration. It caused the whole truck to shake. I pulled over and looked under it and all around it but found nothing. I continued to drive it and it drove fine. Every time it gets around 55 it starts the shaking. I keep finding online that it is called the "death wobble" and that there have been multiple cases.
I have a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4 with 5.9L turbo diesel. The front passenger side spring/shock tower is ripping from the frame, driver side is cracked. Dodge will do nothing be cause it doesn't fall within their recall dates. Safety recall no.835. This as far as I am concerned means nothing, my vehicle was built early summer of 1995, not sure exactly. This is a big problem I am without a vehicle. Chrysler told me to file a complaint, and so I am. [xxx]. thanks, [xxx]. updated 07/17/2012 information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

In August of 1999 with approximately 70,000 miles on odometer while driving 35 mph, there was a vibration, and the driver lost all steering control before crashing into a ditch. Dealership examined vehicle and replaced steering gear box to remedy the problem. Since replacement of original steering gear box, vehicle wanders all over the road during normal operation. Steering gear box has to be replaced again by an independent repair shop.
When truck is being driven at 65 mph, and a bump in the road is hit, driver's side front wheel bounces out of control. This has been an ongoing problem for over a year. Dealereship is not able to duplicate this problem. Please provide any furhter information.
Intermittently vehicle would shake/ wobble while driving at approx. 40 or more mph once it started it continued until speed come down to 25 mph. Vehicle been in / out of repair shop on four occasions, and condition remained unresolved. Manufacturer notified and informed consumer that a correction can be made. But, the cost would be at consumer's expense. Can NHTSA provide information concerning this matter.
While driving below 45 mph or above the front end of the vehicle severely shakes as if the tires were bouncing off the ground. Dealer replaced the track bar and steering stablizer.
Dealership and Chrysler have acknowledged that this is a known fault and a technical service bulletin has been filed with NHTSA yet they refuse to resolve the problem citing that the vehicle has been modified with an aftermarket lift kit. I have been in contact with one other Dodge vehicle owner with the same problem. His name is richard hardy (714) 964-0483. He has also been denied warranty work. He, along with a local suspension shop have worked to identify the problem with the brakes and suspension. Unable to locate the problem, he submitted to Dodge's demoands of removing the lift kit ( this is a difficult 6 hour process). The problem still existed when the lift kit was removed. When the vehicle was returned to Mr. Hardy after the warranty work was completed it still exhibits the same problem. As this is a known problem and existed prior to the installation of the lift kit, I have refused to remove my lift kit as it has no bearing on remedying the problem. I am appealing to you to help me resolve this issue.
While driving the vehicle vibrates and steeering is very unstable, cause unknown. Dealer replaced shock absorber bar which did not correct the problem.
While driving on freeway, consumer applied brakes & vehicle pulled left, across 2 lanes. At a much lower speed, pulled right. Took to dealer several times for brake problem & was corrected 75%. was informed normal for truck to pull right. Consumer states that the vehicle is now constantly pulling to the left at any speed.
