CarComplaints.com Notes: Say what you will about the styling of the Ford Edge, but the bottom line is owners seem to love this vehicle. That is, of course, except in the case of it's dangerous, worrisome and unexplained issues with random engine stalling.
Our data suggests an early defect trend, as owners of the 2007-2008 models have started posting their accounts of what happens when you're driving down the road and the engine just stops. Some at high speed, some at low speed but always a random shutdown of the engine, electrical and power steering.
Time will tell if this becomes a widespread issue, but there's no drying the seriousness of the problem. With that in mind, we're flagging the Edge with our "Beware of the Clunker" rating until the situation improves.

Takata recall. It has now been well over a year since I was informed that my airbag is defective and life-threatening. I took my car to my local Ford dealership and was told that my airbag cannot be replaced right now. I requested a replacement vehicle because I feel unsafe in my vehicle and my family cannot afford to lose a passenger seat. It is ridiculous that over a year later nothing has been done. Ford should have supplied me with a rental vehicle, loaner vehicle, or some kind of replacement. I do not feel safe in my vehicle. I live in a zone a high-humidity area. It is unacceptable that no one has offered my family another alternative.
"takata recall" - parts are still not available to fix the problem and dealer states they don't know when they will be available. Manufacturer filed bankruptcy so seems airbags won't be replaced. How do we get this replaced and car made safe?
Takata recall - I discovered that there was a recall on my vehicle (NHTSA 16V384 - Ford 16S26) dated June 2016 but to date this recall has not been actioned and I have not received any notification from Ford!
Takata recall: Recall is from June 2016, I have contacted the dealer greenway Ford and the corporate office to no avail. Each time they say they will contact me, I called today and was told the part is still out several more months. They do not fix the problem. This recall is over a year old. I need help.

I purchased this vehicle in 2016 with a open recall, the dealership failed to inform me about or fix prior to selling it. The vehicle has had several problems they refused to repair even though I purchased it from them. They are a GM dealership said they do not have the tools to make any repairs on the vehicle. This incident in question happened on 11-04-17 the car was sitting in my driveway and I noticed a puddle of gas under the car, the gas tank is what was leaking and there has been a open recall on it since 2014.

Takata recall - I received a recall letter in 2016 about the passenger airbag having a defect. I've taken my vehicle to a local Ford dealership, but my airbag still hasn't been replaced, because supposedly, there's a lack of parts. It's been over a year - when will the parts be available" I recently received a letter about the driver's side as well, but still, no available parts. Why are recall letters being sent out if there aren't any parts available? it really doesn't make any sense to have to wait so long. Fortunately, no accidents have happened with my vehicle, but accidents happen every day. Am I suppose to continue taking chances with my vehicle"
"takata recall" - have been calling Ford dealer for over a year to get the airbag recall scheduled. They claim they don't have part and now don't return my call no accident has occurred yet. Very frustrated no one will help me or return call because they cant get the parts needed - meanwhile I take a risk every time driving my car

My family is riding in a vehicle that has parts that may cause injury or death!! it doesn't make sense that parts are still not available nearly18 months after the recall notice.

Takata recall, I received notice about the recall in March,2017 and now received notice of the company filing bankruptcy chapter11. So I called Ford and they still do not have replacement of the air bag inflator for my vehicle. How long do they have to comply with a recall? I have not been in an incident but fear with winter and road conditions some thing might happen.
Takata recall we received recall notification in 2016. Contacted dealer and was advised we would be notified when parts were in and service could be performed. Have not received notice. We received an additional recall notification in August 2017. We contacted the same dealer and was advised parts are still not available and we will be notified when service can be scheduled. Still no contact as of 11-1-2017. It appears Ford has not resolved defective issue with now bankrupt takata. Vehicle owners are at risk until corrective action is completed. What can we do to expedite defective air bag inflator replacment?
