CarComplaints.com Notes: Say what you will about the styling of the Ford Edge, but the bottom line is owners seem to love this vehicle. That is, of course, except in the case of it's dangerous, worrisome and unexplained issues with random engine stalling.

Our data suggests an early defect trend, as owners of the 2007-2008 models have started posting their accounts of what happens when you're driving down the road and the engine just stops. Some at high speed, some at low speed but always a random shutdown of the engine, electrical and power steering.

Time will tell if this becomes a widespread issue, but there's no drying the seriousness of the problem. With that in mind, we're flagging the Edge with our "Beware of the Clunker" rating until the situation improves.

got off freeway odm sensor failure appeared the vehicle then would not accelerate and the speedometer was stuck on zero ten the air bag light and wrench light illuminated . it felt like transmission was going the engine was winding and i had foot too the floor and maybe going 10 mph. i pulled over shut the car off for half hour. when i returned i started the car shifted into reverse and it made a hell of a bang i then started driving within 30 seconds or 1 block all the lights went out and it drove good as new. this could be a serious issue if this happens in the wrong place at the wrong time. there have been hundreds of complaints online about this. Why is there no recall or fix for the problem ? car runs fine now but who knows when this will repeat itself very dangerous in my opinion.
