CarComplaints.com Notes: Say what you will about the styling of the Ford Edge, but the bottom line is owners seem to love this vehicle. That is, of course, except in the case of it's dangerous, worrisome and unexplained issues with random engine stalling.
Our data suggests an early defect trend, as owners of the 2007-2008 models have started posting their accounts of what happens when you're driving down the road and the engine just stops. Some at high speed, some at low speed but always a random shutdown of the engine, electrical and power steering.
Time will tell if this becomes a widespread issue, but there's no drying the seriousness of the problem. With that in mind, we're flagging the Edge with our "Beware of the Clunker" rating until the situation improves.

Takata recall. My daughters Ford Edge received the recall letter that said the passenger air bag was recalled. The drivers was not, only the passenger. She is in college and frequently has other students in her car and I am very concerned about the safety of others or my daughter if she happens to not be driving the car and is a passenger. We have not received any information on when the passenger air bag will be replaced. It has been a very long time since we received the letter and can you please find out what is going on with this. I need the airbag replaced asap! thank you.
Takata recall. My complaint is it seems like this recall isn't being completed in a timely manner. I received the recall in July 2016, contacted Ford in October 2016 and as od December 2016 still no action. That is nearly six months. I believe that something that could rupture and send metal fragments striking occupants should not be taking this long to repair. Any information and a time line for repair would be great. Thank you for your reply. Concerned recall car owner
Tail light sockets melting causing the bulbs to blow and not work. Have had to change both sides three times now. Also the takata airbag has still not been replaced. The dealership stated they still do not have the parts to fix it. I am very concerned about both these things.

My vehicle Ford Edge model 2008, lost control as well as speed when the wrench light came to the dashboard, immediately after the airbag light lit up, I had little or no engine power to engage gear to keep up with traffic speed. My speed dropped to 40 miles or less per hour. Very dangerous situation because at that moment the odometer lighting also went off. Driving on a highway at night no one drives below 40 miles per hour, made the situation pretty grave and dangerous. The problem comes from the power train faulty sensors near the transmission need to be replaced costing over $800,00, as for the airbag I haven't received a invoice yet.
