CarComplaints.com Notes: A frustrating electrical issue is causing an ever-present “door ajar†warning light for 2011-2013 Ford Edge owners. Even with the doors latched shut, faulty sensors convince the vehicle’s computer they aren’t. With no way to override the system, owners have no choice but to stare at the warning light, listen to the warning chimes when the car is stopped, and deal with interior lights that won’t shut off.
Car shows "shift to park" only after in park and engine off. Irritating to say the least but my main concern is whether this will become a much larger issue that stepping on brake and jiggling gear shifter will not solve. I am of a mind set that this is not a wear and tear issue but a software malfunction that I should not have to pay to fix. I have little to no confidence in the dealer, Soerens Ford in Brookfield WI, so have not gone back. When asked to fill out survey by Ford Motor Company, I did so but to no avail. That was a waste of my time. My non-dealer mechanic suggested a different dealer for repair. I will approach them.
At about 20,000 Miles, when you put the vehicle in park and turn it off it warns that the vehicle is not in park. After the dealer tried 4 times unsuccessfully to fix this issue I gave up on asking. To make it stop we restart, move a few inches and then into park again. Currently at 63,000 miles (3 years later) and problem is still happening.
