CarComplaints.com Notes: A frustrating electrical issue is causing an ever-present “door ajar” warning light for 2011-2013 Ford Edge owners. Even with the doors latched shut, faulty sensors convince the vehicle’s computer they aren’t. With no way to override the system, owners have no choice but to stare at the warning light, listen to the warning chimes when the car is stopped, and deal with interior lights that won’t shut off.

Never had any problems the first 6 months after I bought my Edge until now at first it wasn't very often but now its every time I drive it. When I start to slow down I feel a jerk as if its coming from the back end. Doesn't do it all the time. I don't know if its my transmission or something else. Has anyone else experienced this problem and had it looked at. Maybe you can give me light on what it might be before I take it to the dealership and charged tons of money!! Thanks 😁

Not really sure what causes the sudden jarring, as I'm not seeing a pattern when it happens. It feels like I've hit something, really hard. This has happened four times since I've owned the car. Once August 2014, and three times, this year. There are no electronic warnings, such as the check engine light coming on or transmission, etc... So far, it's happened at low speeds, 45 mph. I'm worried what would happen if I were up to interstate speed and it happened. I truly believe it would cause a wreck. I've talked to dealer service centers and they tell me they don't have a clue as to what it could be without tearing into it. This can't be a huge mystery, as I've read on forums (including this one) that other Ford Edge owners have experienced the same thing with their Edge. Help!

intermittantly, maybe twice a day or twice a season, the transmission slips and jerks from a full or rolling stop. Took to dealer, Soerens Ford in Brookfield WI, twice but they were unable to fix. Tried updating software but that did not solve the issue. No confidence in this dealer whatsoever. So far this has not cost me anything, other than time and frustration. But I've reached the point I'm researching cars again... But certainly would not buy another Ford. My first and my last.

The last 2 weeks, the car has been making a rattling and sputtering noise but not on a consistent basis. I took it to the mechanic who drove it and said that he did not feel any issues. That night, I was driving and the rattling, sputtering and pulsing was very bad. I stopped at a red light and when I tried to accelerate, the car was thrown into brake causing a "jerk" reaction to myself and my husband. The car would not go forward and had to be towed to a mechanic.

My Ford Edge did this sudden jerk thing today. Second time in 2 years but today really scared my mother and I because it literally felt like I ran over a huge curb or something. I could even compare it to feeling like we were rear ended. I was hoping to find a fix or even recall information about it but have found nothing outside of what I have found on this site. Any info would be appreciated if anyone has found anything.

Previous complaint from other poster...

"It happens when approaching a red light, I slow down in anticipation that it will turn red, never making a full stop, and then the light turns green, I start to accelerate and that is when the vehicle jerks HARD and makes a loud bang like noise that scares the __ out of me. This happening at speeds of 20 to 40 MPH."

We have the exact same problem. The first time it happened I thought I was rear ended! It is a very substantial bang and jolt as the car shifts or jumps gears or whatever the hell it's doing. The whole car vibrates! This happens at least once a month. It can NOT be good for the transmission and the entire drive train!

The exact same thing happened again today 12/11/2013. Dealer said they could not find anything. They said they reset the computer. When this happens it scares you to death! The car jerks bad and makes a bang like the transmission fell out! I am scared to drive this vehicle! What if I am going down the highway at 70mph and this happens! Dealer said they have not had any problems like this but I see there has been complaints and I told him that! It happened at 14,000 miles and now at 28,000 miles!

This was suppose to be a vehicle that we could count on. Love Ford vehicles, but this one is a lemon.

DO NOT BUY!!!! The dealer is giving stupid reasons: car is anticipating what I am doing, I should allow it to do its

shifting down, before I try to accelerate. These are crazy answers. This has happened twice, and at low speeds.
