CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2007 Ford Escape looks pretty good compared to other Ford Escape model years, but still has a trend of transmission problems, so it's not a model year we can recommend.

Also the base model Escape did not come with side airbags so it received a "Poor" rating from the IIHS for side impact protection. Other similar 2007 models like the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V & Hyundai Santa Fe scored far better.

On 12/10/21 the accelerator stuck. I had to pull off the road, because I was losing power. But what if it got stuck at a high rate of speed? How would I stop, other than the hand brake and pray that it works. It had happened another time that week, but I thought it was a fluke as the car only has 85000 miles on it. I bought it in Sept 2021. It happened again on the 11th. Had my family member look at it and they lubricated the accelerator and a cable in the engine compartment. It has not done it since. Here is the VIN # [XXX]. 12/18/21 Drove to church. No problem with anything. No lights on.... the dash. Family member left to go home for the afternoon and stated that they almost hit a herd of deer, because the brakes went straight to the floor. They drove back for the evening program, with the same problem. I drove home about 35 miles an hour, and the brake pedal goes straight to the floor. No noise of any kind, no warning, no puddles where the car was parked at church or at home. The brake light is on now. What in the world. This could be fatal... both of these issues. FORD just told me there are no recalls, and then sent me to a survey. They need to look into these issues....Poor customer service in my opinion and could be a fatal situation. Last week was unable to get in for an appointment within a 50 mile radius to get that problem looked at. NOT able to be seen till after the new year.... The gas pedal would stick intermittently, and more pressure needed to be applied to the pedal in order to get the car to accelerate. At one point the gas pedal completely stuck, and I was not able to accelerate the car at all on the highway, forcing me to pull the car over to the side of the road and turn it off to be towed. A mechanic was able to confirm this issue is caused by a malfunction in the throttle body. Ford previously recalled throttle body's in Escapes from 2009-2012, but my car is 2007 and does not apply. However, because it is experiencing the same malfunction, and has serious safety implication, I believe the 2007 Ford Escape model should be added to Ford current consumer satisfaction program 13N03.

The contact owns a 2007 Ford edge. The contact received NHTSA campaign number: 14V682000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.

My daughter, julie mayo, was driving on hwy 280 in birmingham, al when she approached a stopped vehicle on the highway. She was unable to stop the Ford Escape to avoid the crash even after applying brakes. A subsequent inspection by a certified mechanic at joe hudson's indicated the throttle was stuck and the engine was running at 4000 RPM following the collision. Damages to the Escape were estimated at $5700 including frame damage, therefore the vehicle was declared a total loss by state farm. The current Ford Escape recall notice for this problem does not extend to include 2007 models. It should.

When the temperature outside is below 32 degrees, the gas pedal sticks. This occurs when you attempt to accelerate. This is dangerous if you are pulling out into traffic. Once the pedal sticks, sometimes if you stomp on it, it will release. They have recalled 2001-2004 Escape for this issue. Ford is not acknowledging this issue for the 2007 Escape.

In cold weather for the first 2 or 3 stops the gas pedal would not mash down. It stuck up. It would be ok after that. Never a problem in summer. Ford checked it and could not find a problem. I contacted Ford and they did not have an answer to the problem. I felt like I was not the only one with this problem. Finally in April of this year it stuck and I had to have the throttle replaced, a $383.79 cost to me. I contacted Ford and told them I thought they should pay for the repair since it was a safety issue. They evidentially thought not because they would not take care of it. When you stop and start off and the pedal sticks and you are in the middle of an intersection and your car won't move, that is a safety issue. My son was driving in Texas and stopped behind another car at a red light and started to ease up when the pedal stuck. He patted it a time or two and it jerked forward and almost hit the car in front of us. This happened the whole time I had the car until April of this year and after 2 or 3 stops, when it warmed up, it was ok.

The gas pedal continuously sticks or locks in position after I have stopped either to make a left turn or right turn. This is very dangerous, especially when I am making a left turn and there is usually on coming traffic. I am very nervous to make left turns for this reason. Someone will get killed or seriously injured due to this issue.
