CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Ford Escape has an acceptable complaint history so far, with leaking rear window problems showing up as the main concern so far. NHTSA complaint data shows an early pattern of problems with stalling while driving.

Another concern is the 2012 Escape rolled onto its roof during an NHTSA side impact test so it only received a marginal side impact rating ... not good.

Paint at the driver's side wheel well has started bubbling. It is obviously a defect and is right below the door to the gas tank. Of course, when I contacted the dealer he gave me the, "Well, it is the roads are salty up here in the winter and a lot of SUVs and trucks have the same problem...". I don't appreciate being "handled" like I just fell off the turnip truck and suffice it to say I will never purchase another car from this dealer again. My grandfather worked for Ford for 30+ years and up until now I was a loyal Ford fan. That may have changed.

Two months after I purchased the car, the paint started peeling on the door. I mentioned to the dealership 3 weeks after I bought the car, that we're seeing peeling on the door. Nothing was done, just said bad paint job. Three months after buying the vehicle the front hood on the driver's side started peeling across the right side of the hood.

2012 Escape with paint peeling of the rear fenders above the wheel wells as if the sheet metal wasn't degreased before painting. Dealership tried to blame stones for creating the problem! Stones chip the paint they don't make it peel as if it isn't adhering to the steel! Ford knows of this problem, it is widespread, but will not admit the problem is theirs and make good on a lousy situation. This is my first Ford and definitely my last!

I feel that Ford should be held accountable to pay for repaint. There should be more care in how these vehicles are finished at the factories. Should be quality and not quantity for the amount they charge for these vehicles.

Let me know when I can have my vehicle repainted/repaired before the winter arrives. Thank you

I also have a 2012 Ford Escape that is rusting over the rear wheel wells. I am also getting nowhere with Ford Canada on this issue.

I am starting a petition to get them to open a Customer Satisfaction Program on this issue. If you forward me you name, phone number and VIN number I will add it to the list. There are 5 of us in my office alone with the same model and it's happening on all of them.

paint is peeling off paint is peeling off

I see a lot of Facebook comments on Ford's paint jobs. As in they all either peel or just rust out. I just purchased this in march of 2013, the vehicle will be three years old this Dec. What in the world is that ok for a $17,000 car to be rusting. I purchased another ford as I had a 1998 Ford Explorer Eddie, and that was just great on the body, very little rust even when I traded it in for a 14 yr newer vehicle. And now I see this. Wow I'm just floored. I hope that someone can assist and getting this vehicle repainted so it quits rusting and peeling. I don't have money to go out and buy another car. my husband is already retired and I'm coming up on it real fast. I thought this vehicle would take me into retirement, doesn't look like it will last that long. Please help.

Paint peeling off wheel well on drivers side in the rear. Took to dealership and they said 2 other customers came in with the same complaint but Ford denied the claim. They took a photo of my car but said most likely nothing will be done.

My 2012 Ford Escape Limited was built FEB 2012 and put on the road the same month. This vehicle now has severe paint peel on the right rear wheel well, starting to lift on the left rear and the seam on the tailgate is starting to rust. WOW a vehicle with only 28K on it on the road for just over 3 years out of warranty by 3 months and FORD says there is nothing they are going to do about it.

I spent 6 years as a Service Manager with FORD so I do have some inside information that this is A KNOWN FORD ISSUE due to the use of an inferior steel blend.

For all you FORD owners out there the only way we are going to get anything done about this is to blast the internet with all your negative comments don't hold back jump on board and lets get FORD to pay for their short comings. The repair will cost YOU in the area of $1000! SHOULD YOU BE PAYING THIS ON A RELATIVELY NEW VEHICLE. GM is having some rust issues and they are coming to the plate and taking care of their customers WHAT'S WRONG WITH FORD!!!! The company that raves about their customer care program.

paint is peeling off

We just purchased this Escape March 2014, have not even had it a year. This car is barely over 2 yrs old as it went off the manufacturing line 12/12. As to how much I paid for this used vehicle and only had 24,000 miles on it this very much disappoints me. Supposedly he has all of the extra under carriage spray. What is up with the chipping of the paint? I previously had a 1998 Ford Explorer and just got rid of it in 2013, what ever kind of paint prep/finish they used back then was top notch, this vehicle with over 140,000 miles had very little rust/peeling on it.

So were paying a huge amount these days for vehicles. Why are they not lasting longer without turning to crap?

Escape Limited V6

The dealership told me that this is a big issue with this model car and that there is no warranty for it. They went on to say that the right side (left quarter panel) should be worse than the left and they are correct; it is. If I don't fix it to the tune of $1,500-$2,000 per side, it'll eventually rust through and I'll have to fix it. Awesome.

My two year old vehicle looks at least ten years older as the paint is coming off in big chunks all over and my tail gate is all rusted. Ford tells me they wont do anything about it as I passed the mileage that offers the warranty. NEVER buying a Ford again.!!! sh*tty service and bad quality!
