On 17 March 2023 I was entering the entrance ramp to I-294 when the engine road ruff and then died. I pulled over to the side and noted that the wrench lite on the dash was on. I got to the side and turned the car off. When I restarted it, it was rough but hen ran normal. I took it to the Ford dealer and explained what happened. They couldn't find anything wrong and charged me 155.00. On 20 March 2023, I was driving about 40 mph and it happened again. Pulled to curb saw the wrench lite, shut it off and restarted it. Ran good so I took it back to Ford, explained the similar circumstances. They put the computer on it again and found nothing.

Having done some research in the meantime, I told them about the problems people are having with the throttle housing. Ford denied any knowledge of a problem with it and I told them to just replace it. They did and charged me another 394.34 and it has run great since then. There should be a recall on this from all the postings I have seen for the same thing, and there is one for another Ford vehicle.

Car continued to stall in traffic. The trouble code did not indicate throttle body directly. Dealership determined throttle body was faulty. Dealership replaced throttle body and problem was solved.

Expedition XLT 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 53,000 miles

Car shut down (wrench light) and I went into limp mode (I didn't know there was one) 60 miles from home. Fortunately I was one mile from rural Ford dealer. The service department was closed on Saturday.

Dealer could not get trouble code to display. I am trying to get them to replace throttle body assy anyways.

Expedition Platium 3.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 32,000 miles

When you look online you see that Ford has had systemic problems with their throttle bodies and the corresponding electronics. We had the same problem on our 2015 F-150 at around the same mileage, 30K.
