While driving down hill cruise control cuts off. As a result, the vehicle accelerates. The cruise control malfunctioned intermittently. In 2004 drove to bishop ca area and truck malfunctioned. While traveling down hill cruise control malfunctioned.
Short in cruise control/turn signal lever, caused turn signal to not work. This has now happened twice since I purchased the vehicle. The turn signal work intermittently now. I have to jiggle the lever or adjust the tilt on the steering wheel to try to get it to operate. It first failed in Sept. Of 2002, I took the truck in to the dealership to get it fixed and now it has failed again on Nov. 2004, and is still not working properly.
Consumer's vehicle was hit on the left side by another vehicle, which immediately caused the engine to catch on fire, and hood to melt. Consumer anticipated that this was a similar problem to the current investigation ea 05-005 with the cruise control switch that was catching fire.
We were sleeping and heard a vehicle alarm going off outside of our home. When we looked outside the entire front end of my truck was in flames. We then called 911, and then my dad got the hose and attempted to put the fire out. He was unsuccessful due to the fact that it was due to am electrical fire. The fire department arrived, and was able to pry open the hood on the side where the battery is and unplug it. Then the fire dissipated. By that time the truck was totaled.
The vehicle caught fire parked inside the consumer garage. The driver called the fire department to extinguish the fire. The garage was also damaged. The vehicle was towed and totaled out by the insurance company. Vehicle burned carport and entire house to the ground. Truck is still on properly waiting on investigation. Investigator said cause of fire was due to a switch defect. Vehicle was burned completely-tires too.

While driving vehicle accelerated. Consumer used cruise control. Consumer took the vehicle out of gear and turned the vehicle off. She took the vehicle in to the dealer, who stated that the throttle control was defective.
Suden jump in idle speed(TO3000)RPM.dangerous to hold vehicle stopped in snow. Transmission does not downshift to low gear till rmp drops below 1000. Dangerous to stop vehicle. Foot must be applied firmly on brake pedal at traffic lights for the duration of the stop for fear of vehicle lurching forward and hitting car in front. Dealer said he fixed. Problem still present. Very objectionable odor in vehicle( like burning off old oil deposits on metal) present at times. Unbearable to an asthmatic person. Vehicle otherwise in sound shape.
