Driving down state route 33.. drivers side window suddenly falls down into the door. 35 deg outside. Research into the problem reveals it is very common, and that more than likely, ill be replacing all of the regulators in due time.
When I started to roll my window down it just dropped down all the way. Tried rolling it up and it sounded like broken glass! I googled "repair power window on a Ford 2005 F150" and low and behold I found "complaints.com" and was shocked to see all of the complaints on this very subject! Ford is making a killing off owners by using cheap, breakable parts and by not recalling this yet! this should be recalled. My window sounded like someone shot me and it won't go up or down. I have less than 10,000 miles on this truck and found Ford made clips that hold it in place. Unfortunately, you can't replace the clips you have to replace the whole window regulator. The question is, how did this design ever get past qualification testing? Ford's design engineers should be embarrassed to have made such a poor part. After calling our local Ford dealer, the service department says, yes, this is a very common problem and they keep plenty of the regulators in stock! what can a person do. Ford wonders why they are in trouble with sales.
Ford F150 2004 driver's side window dropped suddenly while driving with a loud noise. I removed the window regulator assembly and the problem is the plastic clips that hold the control cables in place. They appear to be cheap and fragile and break easily letting the cables come out of their guides and therefore dropping the window unexpectedly. Luckily I was driving slowly in a parking lot but if it would have happened in a highway for example it could have led to an accident because there is a loud noise and then the window just drops into the door.
My Ford F-150 rear driver side power window regulator went out and the window fell down in the door. I was sitting in the car with motor running waiting for my wife to come out of the store when this happened. It is the third window on this truck that I have had to replace a motor/power regulator on. The difference is the truck is no longer on warranty and now I am paying for it and the real window regulators are not available anywhere but the dealer. Cost is a problem for the replacement as it seems to be about three times as high as a replacement for the front window which I can buy at any parts store.

Nothing led to the failure, the regulators just failed. At the time I drove my truck maybe once a week, as I was a stay at home mom. I believe I was on my way to kaiser for a "well baby" check up when I tried to roll my window up, it just dropped in to the door, never to be seen again. At least not until my husband rigged it to stay up. About 2 months later, the same thing happened to a different window as we were pulling out of the driveway to go on a camping trip. That was a good kicker for the 2+ hour drive. The truck didn't even have 40,000 miles yet. It's been about 2 years since then and I still can't afford to pay nearly $800 to get them both fixed. The second window regulator that broke isn't rigged as well to stay up, it still falls. So, it's great when it falls all the way down on my way to day care in the morning so my two toddlers can freeze. I love Ford! not really, I wish I had never bought this truck or stepped foot in their dealership. But as long as they are getting my money, they don't give a '!@#$% about me or my family.
Power window mechanism fails causing the window to fall into the door. I have seen many posts on it on complaints.com. The clip holding the cables are faulty causing the cable to pull through. Then you are stuck with the window in the down position. Looks to be a common issue tons of complaints about it.
The driver's door glass fell into the door without warning, .leaving it wide open. 1.there were no events leading to the failure. 2. it can only happen once before repair is required. 3. I was required to purchase the entire window regulator assembly because the part was not available by itself. This is at a cost of $220 plus tax. The old part is available.
I have replaced 2 window regulators on my 2004 F150 and now have a 3rd broken regulator after only 37,000 miles. They are all different windows. The first was the driver window then passenger now rear driver side. I understand this is a very common problem and 99.99999% of regulators fail with barley any use. Please put a recall out for these regulators because it costs $422 to fix each from the vista Ford dealership in woodland hills, ca.
All four windows in my 2004 F-150 have had the window regulator break. Two have broke when rolling up the window and two have broke all on their own. I have paid over $1,000 to have these issues fixed.
Husband found driver rear window down after work. Thought somebody had broken in. Then 3 weeks later was driving and rolling up window with 2 children in back seat and heard a loud snap and passenger window slammed down and wouldn't go back up. We have spent almost $600 on regulators! after reading all of these same complaints Ford should recall this problem. I am afraid could happen to remaining windows in inclement weather with children in vehicle!!!!

I have a 2004 Ford F-150 with 36,500 miles. I have already repaired both front power windows and two days ago the passenger rear power window gave out. Is there a recall on the power windows it seems to be a common problem in these trucks? my window is being held up with tape.
I purchased my 04 Ford F150 brand new back in 04 from paul miller Ford dealership in lexington ky. Since that time, no real problems. In July of this year the passenger side window without reason or circumstance fell off track and into door leaving me to pay for a new window regulator. Repair was made at crossroads Ford in frankfort ky. In September of this year the same issue occurred with the driver side window leaving me again to pay for the repair when it happened without reason. Searching on line, I discovered that many more owners of the same make and model have experienced the same. I have already paid nearly $300 in repairs after the esp. October 3, I contacted Ford dealership who advised me there are no recalls on my vehicle and that they would not assume any financial responsibility for this issue. I can understand 1 window, but now 2 and there are 2 rear windows that may potentially do the same. I also believe there is a leak in the 3rd brake light on my vehicle where water continues to poor in; however, Ford denies that as well. In both of these repairs at crossroads, the window regulators were replaced and no reason as to why both would fail. There were no preceding events to report, the vehicle was parked in both instances when these happened. Hopefully someone else has reported this similar.
After rolling down window to gain access into work parking lot in the morning, the window regulator clip broke resulting in the window being stuck in the down position. Truck was then left unattended with personal possessions and window wide open and vulnerable to theft while I was at work all day. Several dealers were contacted and then I finally found someone who could fix my problem the following day for $340. Truck was then driven directly home and the window was covered with plastic to prevent weather from entering vehicle overnight. Window regulator was then replaced with identical window regulator. This does not appear to be an isolated problem on 2004 Ford F150 window regulators, and I am glad my case was not as severe as others (I.e. windows falling into door panels). However, I do think this is a material/ design defect that needs to be addressed with Ford motor vehicles. Ford truck owners should not have to worry about their windows failing each time they use their truck because a cheap piece of plastic is being used to save on cost. This is a simple issue that could be resolved by using a metal clip.
While rolling down my rear driver's side window, I heard a popping noise and the window fell into the door. I had it repaired (new regulator) at a cost of $390. Two weeks later, the exact issue occurred with my front driver's side window. I have investigated a bit on the internet and discovered hundreds of complaints describing these exact symptoms. This is a security problem and a safety issue for individuals who may be driving in poor weather.
Regulator on two windows of my Ford F-150 pick up failed. I got the one fixed and about two0 minutes after I left the Ford dealership, the other one failed.
On August 8 the driver's side window regulator failed and the window fell into the door. The dealership charged $387 for this repair. One month later both rear window regulators failed, and the glass fell into the doors. No warranty was offered or implied.
My 2004 Ford F150 supercrew has had a window fall down 3 different times so far. All three times were different windows, but the same problem. The window regulator is cable driven and the cable gets stuck or comes off of the pulley, then the window falls inside the door.
