I was sitting in my home office with my 2004 Ford F 150 parked right outside where I could see it. All of a sudden just out of the blue, the driver side window (which was closed) drops completely into its cavity with no cause and the alarm starts beeping. It turns out after inspecting the vehicle, doing a little research online, and then removing the door panel to further inspect it that a cable which operates the window to go up and down had broken. I have not taken this any further yet as it is the weekend, but will contact Ford on Monday to see what their reaction is. I feel this could be a very dangerous situation if it were to happen while someone was driving the vehicle. My online research turn up many instances of this happening to others with Ford F 150 trucks, some reporting as many as 3 instances!

Sitting at a light with drivers side window in the up position. Heard a huge bang and saw windowing dropping into door. If this happened while truck was moving it would be very distracting possibly causing an accident.

On my 2004 Ford F-150 super cab the window regulators have failed mechanically on both sides. The result of the failure is the window dropping into the window well abruptly. I can understand 1 but both within 2 weeks of each other indicates a design flaw.

During the first week of July 2007 the passenger's side window suddenly slid down when I activated the electric window. During the second week of the same month the driver's side window suddenly slid down when activated. I removed the inside panel cover of the doors and noticed the cabling hanging loose and wound around twisted on the motor that caused the window to go up and down. Upon inspection, the problem was attributed to weak, bad or incorrect design. This sudden problem caused a severe safety risk to any driver or passengers.

The power window motors on the 2004 F-150 supercrew failed. The motors just stopped working and the window proceeded to slide down. The Ford dealership, sunset Ford, 623-977-5233, has acknowledged that there was a defect, but won't proactive replace the motors. This has caused a hazard because I was driving on the interstate and the passenger window suddenly failed, causing it to slide all the way down. My son was seat belted in, . however, his window had no controls. Not to mention that I had a $700 gps stolen from the truck as another window just failed.

The contact owns a 2004 Ford F150. The contact stated that the front driver side window fell into the door without warning. The front and rear passenger side windows fell while attempting to roll the window down. The failures occur while the engine is running. The regulators in each window had to be replaced. The dealer stated that the regulator failed due to heat. The current mileage is 53,000 and failure mileage was 38,000.

Three windows in the 2004 F150 crew cab had the window regulators break, causing the window to drop into the door. The first time it happened the truck was under warranty and dealer fixed and said it was a known issue. Second time it occurred was out of warranty, but covered by extended warranty after paying dealer $50. The window that dropped today was covered under extended warranty, but will cost another $50. Dealer said it was a known issue, and still charged to fix the window.

2004 F-150 supercrew 2wd automatic. Transmission requires rebuild at 54000. Bought new all seals replaced within 2-3 months due to fluid leaks. Slipping began less than 40,000. Fluid flush alleviated the issue, but slipping returned. At 60 mph trasmission slipped into neutral momentarily at random times. Power rear sliding window does not work; failed within first 2-3 months; no computer code to detail the issue so Ford will not fix regardless of confirmed failure and warranty coverage. Rotors had to be replaced on first break maintenance.

My drivers side window fell into the door and I was unable to raise it with out taking the door panel completely off. It was 24 deg F outside and I was exposed to these temperatures until I could get to a safe place to temporarily prop up the window. After research I found this was a quality defect on the window regulator of the new style Ford F150. This quality defect has potential dangerous consequences, if more severe weather such as a severe snow or rain storm existed it could have caused an accident.

I have a 2004 F-150 FX4 that has 6 power windows, including the backslider and sun-roof. I purchased this vehicle in Dec. Of 04. When the truck was at 35000 the driver window fell into the door, I live in the hottest city in AZ. The dealer was happy to fix the problem, but the parts were on back order, because this is a common problem for this year truck. That is what the dealer told me! the solution mean while, a pair of visegrips on the window frame rail, that actually work great even though I had to do it myself. They did fix the window under warranty, but a week later the passenger window hit the floor too. Luckily still under warranty, but while taking the truck in for the passenger window the backslider quit working so they fixed it as well. 3 down 2 to go! two weeks later the driver rear window makes a popping sound and went into the door. #4 and would you guess 14 miles out of warranty, $388 later window is fine. One week to the day driving to phoenix AZ. A slight bite cooler then we are, the passenger rear window popped and slowly went down. After an hour in a wal-mart parking lot I got the window clamped up. The dealer told me to wait for a recall and I will be paid for the two windows at $388 a pop. I was also told that it is a design change to the regulator in the window. A plastic clip is used on the cable that pulls the window up/down. My other question is do they replace the regulator with the same type and if so when will it break again.

Safety issue, in cab electrical failures. Feb 4th 2006, it rained 1.5 inches. My truck sat in the rain with all the windows up. In the evening I opened the door and drove away. As I had jumped in the truck, I had realized I did not have any dome lights. As I drove away (engine running fine), I realized I did not have any readouts on my instrument cluster and several other things not working. About 10 miles later, I hit a bump in the road and all my non-working items began working. The only side effect was my tripometer quit working. At this time, September 14, 2006 I continue to have this problem. Specifically when it rains or is humid. I currently have driven my truck approx 200 miles in the past 4 days without any of these items working. During these 6 months, I would approximate this issue as 1X per week problem, with the resolution being a hard hit on the dash while I am driving. However, I am at the point now where hitting the dash does not solve the problem. Here is a list of things not working when I have this failure. The air bag light blinks upon start up then stays illuminated. No dome lights no speedometer no tripometer no odometer no tach no fuel no engine temp no operating volts no oil pressue no audible alarm the key is in the ignition no audible alarm when the lights are left on no auto power locks no power windows (therefore stuck in position of last normal operation) no radio no ac no defrost (problem occurs when humidity is high = fogging windows.) I feel I have some safety issues that make this truck unsafe. I am at 50,000 miles warranty, how do I get the mfg to fix correctly, for free.

Using power window controller to roll up vehicle windows, a loud bang sound like a gun going off happens, then the window(s) fall into the door frame. Dealer stated the problem is a faulty window regulator. I'm one of approximately 30 people at this dealership with this problem. Currently the dealer is stating the part is on a national back order and could be months before it is in. The vehicle is rendered useless, unable to roll up windows or secure the vehicle.
