I purchased my 2011 F150 ecoboost in used condition in 2014. The primary use for my truck is around town errands and hauling light loads. For sometime now I have had issues, like many others have complained as well, during acceleration at 45+mph the engine loses it's power, shudders and stalls. Once there is a reduction in the amount of throttle, it takes a few minutes to regain "normal" driving conditions. For example, my family and I were coming home from Florida on the parkway, in July and with no abnormal weather conditions, and as I was ascending a grade about 75 miles per hour and a semi truck behind me, I gave the truck more throttle and it began to shudder violently, a subtle backfire, and lost power and could not regain throttle response. I quickly moved the truck into the emergency lane and had let the truck return to a normal idle, took a few minutes, before almost getting into a serious collision with the semi-truck. Over the past years I have just dealt with the issue and have taken it to mechanics and scanned the truck with no error codes or issues, until just recently. The mechanic scanned it and it showed misfires on #4 and #6. he replaced the coil and plug hoping that would be the cure, but with no luck it did not solve the issue. I'm reluctant to drop another $250 to replace the rest of the coils, but I don't know what else to do. I do not have disposable income and the truck is paid for, I and can't afford to get another vehicle. I enjoy my F150 and plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off. I have read post after post and video's that there are many people experiencing the same issues, but it seems no one is willing to step forward and make the complaint. I want this issue addressed and I hope Ford will resolve the issue before someone is seriously injured or a life is taken over this problem.

Cold start horrible grinding noise happening for over a year, that I've determined is a stretched timing chain and commonly reported and complained about by ecoboost owners and should be addressed by Ford.

Upon hard acceleration, while trying to pass a vehicle, the vehicle shudders, shakes and stalls. The mph goes down and down even if pressing the gas pedal. I must pull over, put the truck in park and turn off the truck. Avoiding a head on collision is difficult when this happens. After restarting the truck, the engine light then comes on. This has happened on four different occasions. The gas mileage is now inaccurate and it appears that the "miles to empty" does not match the miles driven. Rivertown Ford (columbus, ga) claims to have no knowledge of this type of situation. Spark plugs & boots were said to be the cause the first time on 6/2/18. The 2nd time 12/12/18, the "intercooler shield was installed & PCM reprogrammed" -- I was promised this was the 100% fix. As of 2/28/20, rivertown advises their fix is out of warranty and now requires $650 for "engine tear down required to determine point of failure".

The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. While driving 65 mph, there was an explosive sound under the hood. The driver was able to coast the vehicle onto the road shoulder. The vehicle was towed to the contact's home. An independent mechanic arrived and found that one of the engine pistons failed and penetrated the engine, which caused the engine to explode. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, but was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 24890103. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

Only 98,000 miles on this very well maintained truck. No engine issue, no issues at all, , and as I accelerated to pass a slow moving vehicle, which means my turbos kicked in, my engine blew up. There was a clunck and then nothing. There is actually a hole in my engine block. This never should have happened. This engine is not built to withstand the turbos. I am aware of this happening to 4 other people with the exact same ecoboost motor. I have contact D Ford and no one will take responsibility for this.

In 2016 I went to get recall repaired from franklin tn dealership I purchased the truck from, they refused, in 2019, they claim that the software was not available from Ford, online in emails to another dealer, I have not been told when to bring truck in to get all recalls repaired. Both dealerships are in tn. When in first gear, the truck will jerk back down and won't allow me to go to 2nd gear without pressing hard on gas, loud fan noise from the hood, breaks go to the floor and I have to pump to feel truck slowing down, air and heat continue to not work, air won't get cool and heat won't get hot, both dealerships have refused to repair or blamed Ford for not giving them what they needed to fix the recalls. I am documenting so my family will be able to give this to attorney. The down shift happens when the truck is in drive moving on any and every street, parking lot, stop light/sign. The loud fan noise from the engine only happens when the truck is started, the brakes have been going to the floor for 8 years at different times of the day/night when driving.

I have been hearing rattling noise most every time I start my truck for quite some time and had suspected it to be a timing chain issue after researching this on line and finding numerous others having the same problem. However, when I took it in, the repair shop couldn't find an error code. Until this past week when my check engine light finally appeared. Now it is in the shop getting the timing chains replaced at a proposed cost of $3,400! I, like many many others, believe this is a recall issue though Ford seems to be ignoring it. After losing a transmission earlier this year due to an official recall issue (output speed sensor (oss) failure that resulted in sudden downshifting to 1st gear at high speeds, which cost me over $7,000., I now face another $3,400 in costs due to another flawed component in my 2011 Ford F150. Looks like I will be paying for my truck a couple times! Ford should step up on this! I'd get rid of this truck if I could.

The timing chain was stretched and the end result is a bad engine. I purchased the truck in 2015 and only put 40,000 miles on it. The truck has a total of 110,000 miles. This model (ecoboost)has had numerous issues with the timing chain and Ford refuses to do anything about it because it's not a " safety hazard ". I did the oil changes always at the recommended time and took good care of the truck. I reached out to the Ford dealership I purchased it from and they will not help. In fact, I was told by the service department manager they were surprised this didn't happen sooner. This is a notorious issue and Ford dirty little secret.

Throttle body needs replaced after 120000 miles after car stalled into 'limp mode' going highway speeds causing a dangerous situation. Truck diagnosed at baxter Ford South in omaha ne and anderson Ford in libcoln ne. This is a safety concern when the truck gave no warning signs and just hesitated and slowed down with little or no response to throttling. There are hundreds of cases of this with the Ford F-150 2011. There have been other Ford around that year that have had throttle body issues. I don't know why this is. It a recall?

The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle shifted into first gear on its own. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road and powered off the engine. The vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normally. The vehicle was taken to bill marsh Ford (located at 408 w mile rd, kalkaska, mi 49646, (231) 258-9192) where the transmission was upgraded. The vehicle was repaired. On another occasion, the engine performed as if it were misfiring. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine and timing chain needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. After leaving the independent mechanic and while at a stop sign, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle failed to start and was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was later taken to another independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that he replaced the timing chain on his own, but not the engine. The vehicle was later taken to bill marsh Ford gaylord (located at 1928 otsego ave, gaylord, mi 49735, (989) 732-6737) where it was diagnosed that the engine valve on the left bank failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees and still remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The contact was referred to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 96,000.

Loss of power while driving on interstate. Whether accelerating to pass or the need to accelerate in any instance or any time!! in a recent trip via interstate the truck lost power !! if I would have been traveling on secondary roads and attempting to pass, I do not believe I would have made it. Check engine light came on! I brought it to the repair shop and they ran tests on it and said it did code dtcp0016 when deleting the code it would come back!!! I have parked the truck and was told there were numerous complaints to the ntsb on same problems. I bought the truck new and it only has 56000 miles on it an the Ford service said it was out of warranty I believe this is a safety problem that needs to be addressed!!!
