problem #63

Feb 232016

  • 99,116 miles

The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 65 mph, the transmission downshifted without warning and the instrument cluster failed suddenly. The vehicle was stuck in fifth gear. The contact notified the dealer and they advised the contact to wait a moment and restart the vehicle. The contact was able to coast the vehicle over to the side of the road to restart the vehicle, which reset the computer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who disassembled the transmission and indicated that there was an internal failure. The micro chip was covered in transmission fluid. The dealer did not indicate why the transmission fluid leaked internally or if there was an internal fracture within the transmission. The dealer replaced the part with a modified version of the micro chip within the transmission along with a cover. The contact was uncertain if the repair would provide a permanent remedy for the condition. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 99,116.

  • Automatic transmission
  • 31,000 miles
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. While driving 25 mph downhill in second gear, the vehicle felt as if it were shifted into neutral and accelerated down the hill. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 31,000. Updated 03/09/16 the consumer stated while driving down a hill, when the transmission was cold, he put the vehicle in second gear. However, it held back for approximately 10 seconds and then it felt as though the vehicle went into neutral on its own. Updated 5/10/16.

  • 42,000 miles
Vehicle decelerated during attempt hard acceleration. Had loss of power while trying to accelerate on two separate occasions. Once while accelerating on an on ramp and once during acceleration up a steep incline and highway speeds. Both during wet conditions. Check engine light came on while decelerating and then went off after slowing and pulling to side of road. Dangerous circumstance while trying to merge and from overtaking traffic.

I have some strange shifting issues with this truck Ford has denied me a fix. As of now, it seems to be consistent with the split two-piece drive shaft "bump". (spline yoke needs grease) or tsb 14-0090 for the rear differential. It feels like sometimes you hit a bump but the road is smooth. Drive shaft spline needs grease? also, very rough "clunk" when shifting from reverse to drive and vice-versa. Second gear shuddering at times under slight acceleration. Rough shifting random, but it happens from time to time. I've been to one dealership several times. I've contacted Ford customer service for some assistance...the first time I got basically nowhere. This time, the representative from Ford says she cannot talk to me at the times I am available. I feel like they are hiding the problems with refusal to "fix" the truck. I know I've read all over the internet this is happening to other F-150 owners. Very frustrating and annoying. I've talked to a local area drive-train specialty shop. He said to bring it by and look at it for me at a cost. However, my truck is still within the drive-train warranty...but Ford refuses to assist their very own customers. Not a very happy customer any more. I just want my truck repaired permanently. Oh, yes, the dealership did finally replace the front pump assembly in the transmission earlier this year, but that has not resolved the problem.

While driving and accellerating in a normal manner the vehicle will upshift properly until it reaches 4th gear and will not shift any further, even at freeway speeds of 65 to 70 mph for several miles no matter what I attempt to do. Sometimes it will make it to 5th gear and remain there even though I'm not loaded down or pulling anything.

This is an update to my complaint filed preciously. After the second episode of loss of power and the check engine light coming on. I took my ecoboost powered truck to a Ford dealer and they performed tsb 14-0017. This was supposed to fix the engine loosing power. This is why the NHTSA closed the investigation of the F150 ecoboost. This has not worked. Yesterday 11-7-2015 I was on a 2 hour highway trip in rainy conditions. While driving the motor again lost power and could not even maintain highway speeds. This was dangerous to my family and everyone around us. The tsb from Ford has not fixed the dangers of these trucks. Please re-open the investigation into this dangerous vehicle before someone is killed or injured. American roads deserve safe cars.

We have taken this vehicle numerous times to fix the transmission and motor (eco boost 6-cylinder) the transmission does not shift smoothly, the vehicle lurches and has a lack of power/acceleration. The vehicle is in motion and experiences these problems both in city and highway driving. The NHTSA has hundreds of complaint and Ford has received over 4000. The last time we took it to the dealer their explanation was: "cannot duplicate customer's complaint" this platform is faulty and somehow Ford has been able to keep it off the radar. Apparently Ford does not know how to fix it and continues to deny that there is a problem.

Vehicle experiences sudden & rapid power loss, deceleration and vehicle shuttering at highway speeds. Occurs quickly and without any warning, presenting major safety issue as it has almost caused several vehicle crashes. At highway speeds this can result in severe vehicle damage and potential injuries. Dealer attributes issue to be with the throttle body and has been a problem on a number of Ford vehicles over the last 2 years. I have verified this by internet query. I have not seen or received any notification or recalls from Ford on this or any other problems with my truck model. The vehicle in question is a 2013 Ford F150 with the eco-boost engine.

My Ford 150 V8 supercab at 32 miles per hour starts shaking the whole truck and vibrates. It does this regardless of road conditions and or gear the truck is in. It only goes away when you drop below 32 or go faster than 35.

My 2013 Ford F150 XLT began flashing a warning saying service advancetrac. Then it immediately begins flashing shift to park. The truck then begins to downshift causing a rapid slowing of the truck.. when I get to the side of the road to stop I hear metal on metal grinding noises from the engine compartment that I believe is the transmission trying to shift to park... the truck then loses all blinkers and flashers as well as all lighting on the instrument panel. I was able to drive it to a safe location off the road this time.. the truck randomly continues this and its been in the shop several times and they say nothing is wrong with it. I finally got fed up and began video of the dash display in order to document my safety and problems. This truck is 9 months old and has 14000 miles on it. It has done it again and all electrical systems would not reboot and left me stranded for a long time. We have been driving on I95 at 75mph during holiday traffic and it happened again and we literally thought we would be killed because cars had to slam on brakes to avoid our disabled car. It was even scarier since my 6month old daughter was in the vehicle then.we are at a loss because Ford has completely ignored the problem and just assumes I will stop making them fix this at some point. I'm in a 1 car family and bought this to accommodate my new baby and have her a safe ride...this problem is dangerous and it is going to hurt or kill someone if its left unaddressed. [xxx] at jim hudson Ford service has told me he knows its something wrong with it but Ford will not allow him to fix it under the warranty terms for new trucks. Driving in rainy conditions attempting to accelerate my truck started to lose power, shaking and check engine light started to flash. After getting out of traffic to pull over called my wife to bring me my O.B.D hand held found that I had codes P0300, P0304, P0305 and P0306 which is for cylinders misfiring. This is the second time this has happened in heavy traffic condition it could easily cause a traffic accident, does someone have to die before ya'll take action. My truck is at kenly Ford in kenly North Carolina and like the first time they play it off like I don't know what I am talking about and they always say they can't find anything wrong with it. Please don't sit around and let this problem cost someone their life......

Regular morning, right as I was driving out of the parking lot, two alarms went off: "power train" and "service engine soon". at first I thought it was an error so I continued to drive out of the parking lot. Not even 10 yards out, my truck began to jerk forward so I put on park and shut the engine off. I started again, attempted to drive back to my parking stall, and same thing happened. I bought this truck about 10 months ago and it only got 7800 miles on it. I haven't put any strenuous work load on this truck, mainly used for commuting so far.

Was accelerating entering interstate I95 North bound from an on ramp and suddenly my vehicle lost power and began to stall and shutter. The truck rapidly lost power plus speed and a tractor trailer truck almost ran in to the back of me. I dealt with this issue for the remainder of my 500 mile trip to nyc (and still dealing with this issue today now weekly bases). Once back home I took the truck to the dealership who was aware of misfire issues with my truck model (apparently it is known by the manufacturer that the truck stalls and misfires issue and said I had all the latest updates however still today I experience stall and misfire mainly under hard acceleration. Lately the issue has worsen and I am told by the manufacturer that there is nothing that they can of will do about it until they come up with a fix. This vehicle is a major safety risk period. I have asked the manufacturer over and over to correct the problem however they simply told me they don't have a fix for is as of yet. I am asking that you look into this and investigate my concern please don't wait until someone god forbid loose their life because this is a major safety concern. We need to be more proactive than reactive. The Ford F150's equipped with the turbo eco boost engine is a major safety hazard it is just a matter of time before someone gets hurt and loose their life before something might be done - that is the sad part. Please I beg you to look into my concern and follow up asap. Just last night my vehicle stalled I have to constantly drive it cautiously. I only have less than 14,000 miles on the vehicle because I am scared to drive it - I don't want to sell it to no one else because I would feel bad knowing the major safety issues this vehicle has - I just can't bring myself to putting someone in a vehicle that could hurt them. Please get behind Ford and investigate this issue.
