My wife left work around 445 pm on 12/27/18, when she started the vehicle prior to putting the vehicle in drive the lights on the dashboard (instrument cluster alone with the radio display) do not come on(total blackout), this is not the first time(2 times prior to this date) this has happen to her but we have notice this occurring during cold weather periods. So my wife drove about 4 miles thinking the light would come on, which they did not, so she pulled into a business parking lot, parked the vehicle and turn it off for about 3 minutes. She then turned on the vehicle at which time all the dashboard lights came on.

While driving the interior instrument lights suddenly come on park brake, 4X4, air bag, traction, ABS, advance trac, and steering assist. During this process the brakes engage & then you can hear the scrubbing sound of the brakes.this has happened multiple times. I've returned it to the dealer for service 3 times, after a month of diagnostic testing & road testing the steering system failed on the serviceman while driving it. They informed me that they want to return the vehicle to me without making any repairs because it has not re initiated this process in the last 3 days. This is a safety hazard for me and any other vehicle on the road. Ford has informed me that if the steering goes out while driving call roadside to bring it back. Total disregard for my safety and or anyone else. This event occurs while driving, it also shows these readings upon starting the vehicle. This has happened under 30,000 miles and over that threshold. It has happened on multiple occasions.
Freezing door latches causing the door not to stay shut in cold temperatures or open the door can fly open because you think that it is shut while you're driving down the road causing damage to the door losing personal belongings and if a occupant is not seatbelted flying out of the vehicle the doors on these trucks will not latch when you shut the door they bounce back open and then sometimes you think their latched and they're not then taking a turn and the door swings open Ford is aware of this problem they have put out tsb's and fsa in order to try to repair it with no success I personally have had my truck in the shop for this issue 5 to 6 times with no fix this is very dangerous and scares my kids that are inside the back of my truck when their door flying open or when they have to hold it shut while we're driving down the road to school
Had a fire start in the rear seat area while the truck was warming up in the remote start mode. The remote start was factory installed by Ford. The truck was declared a total loss

Back in November 2018 I had my first fault. My brake fluid low sensor came on. It was intermittent at for about 10 miles and than went away. Did not another issue until mid December. The light cam back on and over the course of the day, it did not go off. I then disconnected the the sensor so that I did not have to continuously have to listen to the dinging all the time. I also made an appointment with a dealership to fix the problem. They checked the codes and found nothing. Kept it for twos and returned it saying they can not find a problem and to bring it back when the problem come back. Yesterday, the light came back on intermittent and I got some video of it this time. It only acted up for a short time before going away again. This morning I went to use the truck and and used the remote start to start it. It ran for about 5 mins or so and I got in and turned the key on and put it on reverse. Then all [xxx] broke lose. Had all kinds of errors come on. Had parking brake not released, service engine, check service manual, dim lights, brake fluid low, parking brake on. The gas pedal does not seem to work. The engine revved to 3000 RPM be itself and only moved like it was in ideal. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
I have had my truck to dealer for many multiple issues involving electrical since approximately 6600 miles beginning with shaking when I slowed down without utilizing brakes. Since then I've been at the dealer with many electrical issues where truck would not accelerate and all lights would illuminate. This has been ongoing and very unsafe. When I would attempt to make a left hand turn I would proceed to cross opposing lanes and vehicle would feel like it was in neutral and almost was struck on numerous occasions. Vehicle has also over accelerated very early in ownership. Most recently and I picked up my truck and a week later same problem. I have had my truck at the dealership with electrical problems that create a great danger to myself as well as other motorists. Certainly I cannot be the only person who literally as of the first week of December 2015 received my ordered truck and now after 3 years has had so many close calls when operating the vehicle. All times the vehicle was operational and runs very rough prior to happening. I have been driving down the street and video the trucks camera and other items going on and off during operation. The truck has sever electrical deficiencies and the engine has severe response issues that puts my life. My passengers lives and the other motorist at great risk of injury or death. I am unable to supply all the dates in the one space provided. But have all video and paperwork from all the times and dates from dealership.
The complete instrument panel went out. The only thing that worked were the head lights and tail lights the dealer fixed it but don't know what caused it. On a highway about 40 mph
Fire and lots of smoke inside my truck when I used my remote start inside my garage...dropped back seat, pulled carpet back and witness and recorded a burnt wire hanging down across rear window that kept burning and never stopped/popped a fuse or relay until I shut down the remote start. Ford dealership said it was the rear defroster that automatically turns on when using remote start...replaced entire back window and wire harness split cost with Ford not under warranty '.
I was driving and there was the smell of burning electronics and my truck cabin filled with smoke. I pulled over, and saw the defroster on the rear window was smoking. I exited the vehicle, opened my doors to let the smoke out, and all of a sudden I heard an explosion like a gun shot and the rear glass glass shattered.
Purchased used 2016 F-150 in Oct 2017. Shortly after purchase tailgate would randomly open while vehicle was in motion. Power tailgate would also open when key fob was used to lock vehicle. Tail lights would also illuminate brightly as if brakes were applied when they were not when vehicle was in motion. Other times tail lights would flicker on and off when vehicle was in motion. When computer was scanned no trouble codes were found. Eventually after several trips to BMW dealership in spokane wa where vehicle was purchased vehicle was taken to wendle Ford in spokane wa. At wendle Ford technicians found extremely frayed wiring harness in area at rear of truck where bed and frame meet. Wendle tech's said that they had never seen this type of damage / defect before, and when checking with Ford corporate there were no service bulletins reference this type of problem. This description of events was prompted after reading a news report of Ford Super Duty trucks exhibiting tail gate openings while vehicle in motion. All service notes and documentation can be obtained through wendle Ford, spokane
Moments after turning on my car and the heater, my kids started complaining of a strong burning smell. We drove the 5 minutes to school, then I drove 5 minutes home. By the time I arrived home, my back window was cracked and starting to break and there was a very strong burning smell. You could also hear a crackling sound near the back window. This was when the vehicle was stationary.
Driving on hwy at 70 mph using adaptive cruise control all of a sudden it applied the brakes. Few days later it did again on hwy nothing around me. Stopped using it after second time. Lucky no one was behind me. Then after I got to my disination the next morning stater my truck first I noticed no power to the front driver & passanger windows then no A/C / climate control, no mirror control so started driving it then noticed tire warning light on but wouldn't show the tire pressures looked at tires and looked like they where fine. When leaving store was backing up and almost hit a car my warning sensor didn't go off now I noticed that all of my safety devices on this truck was not working. Now I'm wondering if my airbags are active. Drove back home from Virginia to Tennessee about 6 hr drive very carfuly. Next day straight to Ford dealer and is still there as I'm writing this. Very unsafe to drive. Did notice on the adaptive cruise control issue there was a recall on the 2015 models but didn't see any on the 2016.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. While driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that several unknown warning indicators illuminated prior to the stalling. The contact was able to stop the vehicle, place the vehicle in park, and restart the vehicle; however, the failure recurred three times. The vehicle was towed to duvall Chevrolet (464 us-441, clayton, ga 30525, (877) 818-7723) to be diagnosed and repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired, but he was not provided with the results of the diagnostic test. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
Horn not working. I purchased a brand new 2016 Ford F-150 in 2016. I am the first and only owner and I noticed 2 days ago my horn all of a sudden stopped working when I press on the horn but it will sound when I hit my alarm button on my key fob. The vehicle has not been in any accidents, I checked all the fuses and they are working and have a current running through them. After some research (within google and F-150 forums) a lot of people are having issues with this and having to replace their clock springs.
In about January of 2017, while still under warranty, my truck started experiencing irregular function of the sync III system. In about March of 2017 the system stopped functioning properly at any time. At that time it had about 37,000 miles on it. By the time I could get it to the Ford dealer it had about 39,000 miles. Ford denied any obligation to repair. Some of the major reasons I purchased the vehicle were to abilities of the sync III system such as: (1) the gps map system and the ability to input destinations and receive driving instructions, (2) the hands free blue tooth telephone connections, (3) the backup camera, and the touch screen menu. All of these were important safety features. None of them work and Ford wanted $1,500 to replace the "apim" module, which purportedly would make it work again. In addition, while backing in to a parking place, in about November of 2017, I could not see a pole set in concrete because of malfunction of the camera, and backed into it, damaging my bumper to the tune of about $1,200 replacement cost. Worse yet, that could have been a child or other person. Occasionally the backup camera works, but stays on while driving down the street.
While driving truck loses power and the hilside assist error comes on. You can't press the gas to go you have to coast and pull over and turn the truck on an off for it to start and work again. Happens while you are driving. Very dangerous. I am told it is a bad throttle body
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. While driving 80 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and there were abnormal roaring and knocking sounds coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken to highway Ford (18982 johnnie B hall memorial hwy, deridder, la 70634, (337) 462-5497) where it was diagnosed that there was a loose electrical connector in the engine compartment that was not seated correctly. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.
It's happened 9 or 10 times in two years... try to start it - nothing...try again-still completely dead. Sit back wondering what I'm going to do, and the truck will start all by itself while I'm not touching anything. Have spoken to numerous mechanics none have heard of it before.
