This particular truck has heated front seats. While I was driving today 2/18/2022 at about 2:35pm the passenger heated seat was on and the seat caught on fire. The seat was empty and nothing was on the seat. I looked over and there were flames coming from the seat. A hole about a quarter in size was burned in my seat.

Upon starting the engine, no dash displays came on. I left the engine running and opened the hood to look for wiring issues, found no damage. Went back to drivers seat and dash lights were all on along with a "service required" warning light. Shortly after, the warning light went off and the truck appears normal.

The ac line fitting overheated causing it to explode and arc which in turn melted the primary wiring harness for the engine. This also resulted in the wire catching fire and causing burn damage to the firewall. The vehicle was going through a car wash when the incident occurred. I have been told by my mechanic that the water from the car wash prevented further fire damage.

In a Ford software update late in 2019 the profile of how the in car sync system operates with an android phone hard wired into the sync system usb port. When the phone and the sync system are paired sync uses the gps, phone and other apps so they can be controlled by the sync system with simple icons. Before the update mentioned the system was seamless. Since the update when the radio is turned off the phone disconnects for the sync system. This requires a driver to reselect android auto on the sync screen. Any driver would need to take their eyes off the road to reconnect and regain the turn by turn map for example. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership 3 times. This last time was today and the tech confirmed this is now a normal operation. I believe this issue could lead to a distraction and possible accident in a very large and very heavy vehicle.

2018 F250 with snowplow prep package. Lose of power during plowing. Dimming of dash lights, and voltage errors on salter. The worst part is that the truck has lost complete power twice! stalling while driving in parking lots lose of steering, and breaks!!! the dealership, and Ford themselves are aware of the problem, but no actions have been made. Going on 2 years. Other trucks have been brought to the dealership with the same issues. Ford is just giving us the run around!!!!!! this is no small issue and the dealership agrees.

F-250 8-cyl Diesel

  • miles
On 4/19/19 I misfueled my diesel vehicle. I stopped the process immediately and called Ford from the filling station. The Ford service center said that I should avoid turning the engine on, or even placing the engine in accessory mode because it would engage the fuel pump and flood the system with gasoline. When the tow truck arrived, it became clear that I could not put the vehicle in neutral to be winched onto the flatbed tow truck without turning on the accessory mode. I called Ford for an alternative. Ford recommended that I disconnect a cable beneath the truck that would disengage the transmission and allow the truck to move. Because I could not figure out how to do this, I had to turn on the accessory to get the truck out of park for towing. This caused about $12,000 in damage to the fuel system. More to the point of this complaint, I later discovered that this procedure is not in the manual for my truck. Further, the procedure that is in the manual was not mentioned. It is possible that the Ford manual contains a procedure that does not apply to the truck. It is also possible that Ford is recommending a procedure that is inherently more dangerous than the procedure in the manual.

Between 60 to 75 mph when hitting certain bumps the steering starts violently shaking and will not stop till slow down to about 25 mph. This started at around 24K and has happened 10+ times. Also at 37K sync 3 radio no longer will come on and wiring issues cannot get trailer braking to connect to the truck. Lights work fine but always shows trailer disconnected so braking doesn't work. You can also start the truck in neutral and put it in any gear without having your foot on the brake.
