While driving on the freeway at approximately 70 mph I drove over a overpass that had a had a rise in the transition between the road and the overpass. After driving over the bump my steering wheel began to shake violently. I had to apply the brakes and at approximately 25mph the shake stopped. I continued down the freeway and I in countered a section that had somewhat bumpy expansion joints and once again the steering wheel began to shake violently and I had to slow down to approximately 20 mph to get the shaking to stop. During both these incidents it was very difficult to control the vehicle putting all the vehicles around in danger of me losing control, keep in mind this was a 4 lane freeway with a speed limit of 70 mph and heavy traffic !.
Driving 75 mph on the interstate and truck steering wheel and entire front end started to shake uncontrollably and almost pulled me into the other lane where another vehicle was. Would continue to shake until the vehicle speed would get below 45 mph. Has happened numerous times. Started doing this May 25, 2022. 84k miles on the truck
While driving on freeway at 65 mph the truck began to shake violently. Slowed down to 40 mph and shaking eventually stopped. Extremely hard to steer vehicle during the shaking.
I was driving on the interstate and when I hit the expansion joint on a bridge, my truck and steering wheel began shaking uncontrollably. I was lucky to be in a situation that I could slow down quickly and pull off the road without getting into a serious accident. I talked to some other F250 owners and they said it was a common thing with these trucks and they referred to it as the "Death Wobble". It is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS issue that needs to be handled. I am taking it in to the Ford dealership tomorrow, but I hear that they don't have any fix for it now.

On 2 Jun 22, on I-24W near Nashville, while driving at the posted speed limit (65mph), I hit a pothole. The front end started oscillating which made it very difficult to maintain control. I slowed and pulled off the highway. The bouncing stopped just before pulling off. I inspected the tires for possible damage. There was none. Later the same day on I-65N north of Indianapolis, also driving near the posted speed limit (70mph) I hit an expansion joint, and the oscillation recurred until I slowed down to under 45mph. On 6 Jun22 travelling on I-65S I experienced the same oscillation on three occasions after hitting a bump at a bridge, a rough place in the road and a small pothole. On 7 Jun 22, while traveling on I-75S I experienced two more incidents due to bumps on the road. In all 5 instances the oscillation stopped after slowing to ~45mph. These incidents caused a severe lack of control putting me and other drivers at risk. This problem has been widely reported in online forums and in other complaints to NHTSA. There were not warnings or symptoms prior to the failure. Ford appears to be aware of the problem, issuing TSB 18-2268, but has yet to issue a recall.
AT 60-70 MPH THE FRONT END BEGINS A SERIES OF VIOLENT SHIMMY OR WOBBLES. IT IS A RECURRING ISSUE. THE SERVICE TECHS REFER TO IT AS THE DEATH WOBBLE. i WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A STEERING GEAR REPLACE INITIALLY. TODAY I WAS TOLD IT WAS A STEERING DAMPNER. I HAD THE TRUCK EVALUATED ON 5/26/22 AT PHIL LONG FORD AT MOTOR CITY WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS "WOBBLE" COULD CAUSE A LOSS OF CONTROL AND JEOPADIZE MY SAFTEY AS WELL AS ANY FAMILY MEMBERS THAT MAY BE TRAVELING WITH
driving down interstate and on the off ramp running 65 mph experienced a "death wobble" in the curve. Very lucky I was able to recover and not roll the truck and run into other vehicles that were nearby.
I-??ve experienced the death wobble, uncontrollable shaking from front end. Very violent and scary. Hard to control vehicle. It happens any time over 65mph. I called ford they said there was an open campaign on the shaking however the parts are not available at this time my truck is not drivable
When driving the front end will begin to violently shake making it almost impossible to maintain control. This seems to be triggered when driving on the highway and when hitting a transition in the road or any type of bump no matter how small. The only way to stop the shake is to quickly get off the road and stop. The dealership has been made aware and did a temporary fix, very temporary. We have contacted them several times and have been told there's nothing they can do.
Hit a bump in the road and the front suspension starting shaking and the steering wheel became very hard to hold onto because of the violent shaking. The vehicle almost flipped over before i could get stopped. Ford replaced the steering damper but i still feel more bouncing from the front suspension. I think there are more issues than just the steering damper.
While driving on the freeway my steering wheel shakes uncontrollably this does not happen often but it-??s happened in three times since I-??ve had the vehicle. Happened today for the third time while I was driving about to exit off the freeway felt like I had a blowout scared the daylights out of me. Thankfully I was able to control the steering wheel and exit freeway
My husband and I were driving 70mph, the speed limit was 75mph. Our truck encountered a bump in the road and then began to shake violently. My husband immediately let off the gas and pulled to the side of the road but the truck continued to violently shake until it reached about 45mph. On the same day while driving down the interstate the truck encountered another bump in the road and did the same thing. My husband could not stop or control the truck from shaking. We were lucky there were not many other vehicles around us or it could have caused an accident. The truck only has 18,000 miles on it.
Extreme shake and vibration and looses all control on vehicle at speeds 40 mph or higher once a bump or uneven roadway. Very unsafe and huge risk to driver and other drivers. Ford knows of this issue as there have been many reports in past including class action lawsuit. 2019 Ford F250 16k miles
When driving on Highway any time you are going over 50 mph and hit a bump, pot hole, or seam on a bridge, the truck-??s front end starts shaking violently and you have to slow the truck down under 40 mph to get the truck to drive normal. This has happened numerous times over the past 3 years.
Experienced the "Death Shaking" 7 times while on our way to Talladega while towing a 6 ton camper. It would shake violently until I brought the rig to a stop. We were able to nurse it to Tony Serra Ford in Sylacauga AL., where they replaced the steering linkage damper. This is a serious issue because of the potential for control loss.
At highway speeds, if you hit a bump in the road, the front end shakes violently and will not stop until you slow way down or pull off the road. I have called and scheduled an inspection with the dealer and when I described the problem they said "oh, you have the death wobble" I purchased the vehicle in Dec 2020 and first noticed this issue the following month or so....with seemingly increasing frequency.
Hitting a bump while driving at freeway speed will result in an uncontrollable shake of the truck that sometime force the truck to move from lane to lane. The shake will continue until the truck slow down to about 20 MPH. The dealer has the truck for 2 weeks but they could not find any issue and return the truck back without any repair and stated that the truck is safe to drive. They refuse to do the test drive.
I was driving down the highway and for some unknown reason the front end of my truck started shaking violently. I had to pull over to the side of the highway to get it to stop. This has happened previously but not nearly as bad as I only slowed down to get the shaking to stop.
