You are driving and when the transmission goes to change gears it has like a dead spot in it an hesitates sometimes a couple seconds sometimes a little longer but it could cause you yo get rear ended then it will kick in real rough and go. There are recalls on the ford trucks transmission but not for my year of truck but its the same transmission the 10 speed and its doing the exact say thing as the complaints in the recall. I took it up around two months after i bought it and they told me this is how these trucks shift that is not correct at all. My warranty has just ran out and ford does not want to stand behind it. They should be made to cover any truck with this transmission in it just not certain trucks.

About a year after I purchased the truck, the transmission started shifting extremely hard on occasion making a loud bang and the truck lunges on the shift. The truck shifts so hard on occasions that it sounds like it could explode. Transmission failure could cause numerous safety issues for myself, passengers and other drivers; flying parts sudden stop and/or loss of control while driving to mention a few. I have mentioned the shifting problem on at least two occasions when the truck has been at a Ford dealership for regular maintenance but I was told it not shift hard for them and that nothing is wrong with it. I am 71 years old and worked on vehicles all my life and the occasional extremely hard shifting is not normal and is an indicator to me that something is not right. No warning lights come on prior to, during or after the hard shift to my knowledge. I have read numerous complaints by other F250 owners, recalls to repair Gen 1 trannys and in a lot of instances the Gen1 transmission was replaced with Gen 2. I would prefer a -??new-?? transmission. Thank you.

This vehicle was a 2 year old used one owner truck purchased from a Ford dealership. The dealership repaired an issue with the transmission which was based on harsh engagement when putting the truck in gear forwards and reverse. 2 months after receiving the truck and being repaired, the issue is happening again. There is a service bulletin and ford is aware of the issue but is not currently doing anything about it. This is a defective transmission and poses a safety risk. The lurch is so hard that you have put all your weight on the brake pedal to put it in gear and hope nothing or no person is in front or behind the truck and the truck happens to lurch enough to cause damage or bodily harm. Contacted the ford dealership and they want to pull the transmission to find the issue but all parts and new transmission are on back order with no availability date. They need to do this in order to reach out to ford. However, they have a current truck that has been sitting in the shop for 6 months with no available parts. Called ford corporate and they are not willing to work with me unless the truck is in the shop. My only two options right now are to drive the truck and hope the transmission does not lock up on the highway due to a failure or let a truck that I am making payments on sit in the shop for an unknown amount of time. Ford is forcing me into continuing to drive the truck as is with the potential risk of a transmission completely breaking at anytime on the highway.

The components in questions is transmission. My sister had borrowed my truck. She put the truck in park and walked back inside to grab an item. Her dog ran out of the house and at that moment she realized the truck was rolling forward. Luckily they was a passenger in the passenger seat that was quick to act and climbed over the middle console and pressed on the brake. There is a video of the insistent. The passenger then confirmed the truck was In park and moved the selector to reverse then park then reverse and park again. Please note the truck was on relatively flat ground. Not a huge incline hill. The truck could have killed the dog or even ran over my sister in her pursuit to get her dog away from the truck. They problem was attempted to be recreated at the moment of the incident but wasn-€™t retractable at the time. I will be checking it every time I drive the truck from hear on. No one was hurt so a report wasn-€™t filed with the police nor was it taken to the dealer for inspection. There was no warning lights illuminated at the time. However The gear selector did show park. I-€™m unable to upload the video just segments of the video. There is a full video.

While driving and coming to stop two times the transmission downshifted rough causing the wrench light to come on saying powertrain/ four-wheel drive fault. Had to have the vehicle towed to my home and make appointment to have vehicle looked at the next week. I have read other forums and many people have been stating the same exact thing has happened to them in the 17+ year super duty-€™s and ford has been secretly fixing the issue when customers bring vehicle in for oil changes or service. I also read that the transmission doing this causes metal shavings to end up in the fluid and clog lines. I feel this is a severe issue if I would have been towing, it would have caused an accident.

The contact's husband owns a 2020 Ford F-250. The contact stated while her husband was at a stop sign, the transmission seized in 2nd gear and the vehicle failed to respond while the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact's husband stated that the check engine warning light illuminated and "wrench" symbol was displayed on the instrument panel. On another occasion, the transmission seized in 7th gear and the vehicle was unable to make it up an overpass. The vehicle inadvertently started to roll back down the overpass. The contact's husband also had alerts on the Ford Pass monitoring tool and received a -€œfailure with PCM and 2nd gear bypassing during cycle" alerts on his cell phone. The contact drove the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the transmission replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Transmission will not shift and sends you into high rpms just for you to let out and eventually have to stop or put in neutral to sort of reset shifting. It also will, out of nowhere, not move when you hit accelerator. This happened to me several times pulling into traffic. Hit the accelerator to go only to have enough to get you in traffic and no more acceleration. A delay for up to 3-5 seconds. This was the most dangerous aspect of the truck. The other dangerous aspect due to transmission is that when putting in gear the truck would slam you forward. If you didn't have a firm foot on brake you would be slamming into whatever is in front of you. When I say form foot, I mean [XXX] near standing in it. It is in ford shop currently. Not sure what to do with this truck after I get it back. Been in shop 3 weeks without any update to what is wrong.
