CarComplaints.com Notes: Ford significantly updated the Fusion for the 2010 model year. We wish they hadn't
Throttle body issues have led to a ton of reports about a sudden deceleration and loss of power while driving. Ford issued a “customer satisfaction program” in March 2014 that, unsurprisingly, has left very few customers satisfied.
2010 is also the year we started seeing complaints about the power steering failing. Throttle and steering failure? Yeah, that’s why this is a clunker.

I bought my 2010 Ford Fusion in August of 2012 and since that time I have had nothing but problems. Starting in October 2013 the wrench light illuminated and my Ford would shake and nearly shut down and this happens about once a month to this day. I took my Ford to my local dealer and the EVAP Canister was replaced totaling $412.86. In early 2014 I received recall 13B17 which described my problem to a tee and I took my Ford to Airport Ford in Florence, KY where they nearly laughed me out of the service area when I mentioned my EVAP Canister problem. Airport Ford replaced the Throttle Body and sent me on my way with my check engine light still on and the same problems continued. I would never return to Airport Ford for anything.
My Ford then and now has a constant smell of gas fumes, which I thought would have gone away when I had a new gas tank installed by a local auto repair shop in the spring of 2015. Low and behold Ford had another recall on the fuel tank. I am asking for those expenses of $106.00 for the fuel tank and $195.00 for installation. In February I took my Ford to Mike Castrucci Ford in Alexandria, KY to have the fuel tank and purge valve replaced. I did not go into detail with this dealership with my prior three years of frustrations; they were kind but sent me on my way with check engine light on happily saying they would look at it for $89.99…
Other issues, when I fuel my Ford and try to start it clicks several times like it is flooded and starts after shaking and a few more times of clicking. My Ford stutters often while at stop signs and stop lights and I have to put in neutral while stopped so my Ford will not die.
