And if losing power steering isn’t enough for you, how about a sudden loss of engine power? That combination is enough to achieve clunker status.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, the power steering malfunctioned. The contact stated that the vehicle was difficult to steer. The vehicle was turned off and restarted while in motion and the vehicle regained power steering functionality temporarily before the failure recurred. The vehicle was steered into a parking lot, turned off and restarted, and driven to the residence. Parkway Ford (98 w. us highway 64, lexington, nc 27295, (336) 243-2731) quoted a replacement cost of over $2,000 to replace the electric power steering system. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 128,000. Consumer stated power steering failed again at 7000 miles.
My son was driving home in his 2011 Ford Fusion when he got a power steering alert and the wheel was extremely hard to turn. Luckily he had a straight stretch on the highway and made it home safely. When took it to a dealership for repairs and after seeing a field safety alert for this issue. Ford refused to honor the field safety alert due to mileage and we paid almost $2000 for repairs.
My car has been absolutely fine for the most part until about 4 weeks ago, while I was driving the low tire pressure light came on, so I went and aired up the tires, the low tire pressure light went off but then the service power steering light and advance tire traction appeared at this time im pulling back into my drive way, then I came out my house a few hours to leave and the stirring wheel was locked I tried to drive it and now the strring wheels goes to the right I never had this issue before let alone any warning signs.. I looked into recalls with Ford and it showed my 2011 Ford Fusion had recalls for whats going on, so I called a Lincoln Ford dealership that said bring it in they kept my car for a week and when I picked it up nothing was fixed on it and they had no paperwork to give me the show they fixed it so I returned my car the very next day because when I drove off it was still doing exactly the same thing but worse so now they've had my car for a week and they called me this morning to tell me my car has been doing the same exact thing and it is the wire harness that needs to be fixed and it's not under the recall but it is part of the power steering so I don't get

Recently the vehicle lose power and the message would indicate "power assist fault' and the few times it happenned I would shut off the ignition and restart the vehicle and the problem would resolve itself. However as of 10/25/2020 the problem remains. After research I learned my vehicle was built 8/5/2011 one month prior to the recalled Fusion how is this not included? with all the complaints from this vehicle regarding this matter. This last occurrence happened after returning an errand car was parked in parking lot and I was unable to move the car until the vehicle next to me moved their vehicle due to inability to turn the wheel.

The vehicle was taken to oc wells Ford located at 4920 independence blvd, hardeeville, SC 29927, however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. In addition, the contact indicated that oil had leaked from the engine. The front driver's side door was not able to be opened from inside the vehicle. The cause of the failures were not determined. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 63,000.
The power steering is not working at all and the power steering light is on.. in the past, , thetraction control system would go out on occasion and thr tcs warning light would appear, but the tcs would start to work after a few minutes. This time, the power steering is completely shot and the repair shop is stating the power steering sensor and steering column will need to be replaced. This occurred while my son was driving the car in a parking lot.

The contact's son owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while her son was driving 65 mph, the steering wheel seized. The driver stated that the power steering warning light was illuminated. The driver was able to park on the road and called his mother to have her boyfriend drive the vehicle back to his residence. Despite a recall (recall 15S18), power steering fault alert shows up unexpectedly, as well as service advancetrac (traction control system). In the middle of driving (in motion) on a highway getting off to a city street, I get the alert indicating service power steering. When stopped at a red light, I attempt to turn off and turn on my vehicle to get rid of the alert, but doesn't go away. When attempting to leave my residence, I unexpectedly received a 'power steering assist fault' message, resulting in my steering wheel becoming increasingly difficult to turn, rendering my vehicle inoperable. This is unsafe and needs to be addressed accordingly.
I lost the control of power steering and error message appear on the display while driving on the road going about 30 mph. After taking the car to the dealership I was informed that the power steering control module had failed and my car was excluded from the recall and I needed to pay $2000+ to repair this issue.
I got the the display message when I started the car the next morning after driving the car the previous day and the steering has been difficult to use since that time

The contact stated that the failure occurred after retrieving her vehicle from vic bailey Ford (501 E daniel morgan ave, spartanburg, SC 29302) after having her vehicle serviced for NHTSA campaign number: 19V001000 (air bags). The contact's daughter-in-law drove the vehicle back to the dealer where she was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 15V340000 (steering). The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 183,919.

The contact called the pittsville Ford dealer, located in pittsville, md, where it was stated that there was no recall. On Aug 1st my wife experienced a loss of power steering assist upon starting the vehicle while stationary. The dash indicated a service required to the power steering system. The vehicle had previously experienced identical symptoms back in August of 2018. Following that first incident, the vehicle was diagnosed & repaired at quirk Ford of augusta Maine in accordance with the 15S18 recall. The power steering rack was determined to be faulty. The dealer replaced the power steering rack and reprogrammed the pscm.
