My ac unit blew out and stopped working this summer, now that it is rainy season there is a puddle of water on the floor of my front passenger seat. Other people have had this issue call ref number: 03V087000. Complaint number: 10184014. I am not sure what they have done but it rains in Washington state and my car is going to stink. The ac unit just up and stopped working, and the puddle of water only shows up when it is raining. I am unclear if this puddle gets bigger why driving but I would assume that as long as there is rain falling on the vehicle, that it is getting into the car.

This Taurus has no engine braking at all. Speed cannot be decreased by releasing the accelerator pedal. Excessive speed can only be avoided by "riding" the brakes. This is not uncommon on this year and model. Ford dealer says it is normal and "ok". just a consequence of having an overdrive transmission. Go figure!!

1999 Ford 3L duo cam engine. Their is no apparent engine braking from this engine at highway speeds. Locking out overdrive will help but causes the engine to rev excessively. Cruise control speed will exceed the speed limit by a lot while going down hill, even slightly.

I purchased a vehicle from some [xxx] and I haven't had the car for 30 days and the vehicles is unsafe has had me almost in some accident due to the unsafe of the car. I took the car back to the place where I purchased it and they keep on telling me its my fault the car is giving me problems. I asked them if I can just get my money back and when I advise them of that they talk in their language to me where I don't understand. I have two children that are 10 and 4 ; the car is not safe. The incident that went wrong with the car is it over heated cut off on the highway while I had the children in the car, also after I took it back to them they fixed it ran fine then the following week after that the belt that I had initially told them about the first time came offthe next week which could spark a fuse while im driving and catch on fire so they advise me to have it towed which they had advise me to do and they took on that responsibility but the car engine light is on it has became a hardship with me and my family and it now sounds like the brakes is going wrong now I just want my money back so I can purchase another reliable transportation for me and my family.

The contact owns a 1999 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that the service engine soon light illuminated on the instrument panel. A mechanic replaced the oxygen sensor; however, the light still illuminated. The contact was informed that there was a misfire on the #6 cylinder. In addition, there was a lot of smoke when the vehicle was started. He took the vehicle to a mechanic and they stated that the possible cause of the failure was antifreeze entering the motor. The mechanic also suggested that there was a potential issue with the head gasket, which would cost between $1,500-$2,500 to repair. Also, the vehicle would not decelerate if the contact removed her foot from the accelerator pedal; therefore, he would have to apply the brakes instead. The mechanic informed him that the vehicle would coast due to the cruise control. The contact also experienced issues with the fuel system using more gasoline than he believed was necessary. For errands around town, the vehicle would use a half of a tank. The headlights had a dingy color on the inside. He attempted to get another lens cap for it, but could not change it because it was plastic. The contact would have to purchase another headlight to correct the issue. The manufacturer could not assist because the vehicle was close to ten years old. The contact also noticed that the vehicle would accelerate on its own and slip into another gear. Lastly, there was an issue with the instrument panel gauges dimming intermittently. The current mileage was approximately 118,000 and failure mileage was 117,400.

This vehicles has a cooling system problem. The vehicle is known by Ford to have a problem and nothing has been done to correct the defect. My vehicle is a 1999 Ford Taurus which developed heating problems last year. Today it was learned that the vehicles cooling system is plugged with a rust type mixture and it is unable to be cleared without replacing the radiator and tearing down the engine to clean it out. Apparently Ford has known about the problem and has basically admitted they have a cooling system problem covering several years. It will cost several thousand dollars to fix this problem which is not an option at this time. I would like to see Ford admit they have a problem and rectify the situation.

I have a 1999 Ford Taurus wagon and the cooling system has been a thorn in my side for the last 2 years. First 1K was leaking coolant and when I brought into the dealership, was told the freeze plugs needed to be replaced as the coolant was acidic. This was my fourth car and I had never in my life heard anything like that. Then, when changed there was alot of rust in the coolant system. Had to change the thermostat, freeze plugs, and water pump. Then things became worse. I started having engine problems which resulted in replacing the head gasket and engine head. When I took the car to the dealership, I was told they have seen this problem many times on that model year car. They suggested I replace the engine, at an estimated cost of $7,000 or buy a new car. Then I had no heat in the car as a result also. Needless to say, I have gotten the work done on the car and spent about $4,000. I was told by one dealership there was a problem with the engine core which was a manufacturer defect but Ford would never own up to it.

Ford coolant corrosion is costing us tooooo much. Engine was running hot. Started with thermostat, then degas bottle cap (full of rust), then water pump (fins corroded and gone), then radiator flushed-full of rust, now head gasket is gone. Flushing system didn't help. Heater core has problems too--no heat to defrost windows which is hazardous to driving car.

I owned a 1999 Taurus and drove it for approximately seven years without major problems. I performed the normal maintenance on the vehicle and it was in good working order. On septebmer 20, 2006 the vehicle caught on fire. The car was parked in front of my house. The source of the fire appeared to be the front right area of the engine component. The vehicle is completely destroyed and is now in a junk yard. The local fire department was called to the scene and put the fire out. There were no injuries, and minor damage to the grass due to the heat of the fire.

I was on vacation when my car lost acceleration I pulled up to the stop sign where my car was smoking, drove to the nearest mechanic to find out I had a blown gasket. My temp light never went on and its functioning. The mechanic there told me this was a known Ford problem. I called my own mechanic when I got back home and he told me the same thing. I just got done paying for my car when this happened. I called Ford and they told me there was nothing I could do. After reading so many complaint's why isn't Ford doing anything with this problem. I had to go and buy and new car which I cant afford. Needless to say it wasn't a Ford I bought.

I noticed problems with my air and heat in my 1999 Ford Taurus. When I took it to a mechanic, I was told that a freeze plug on my engine had rusted through, and antifreeze was leaking out of the car. I spent a little over $200 to replace the freeze plug (mostly labor charges). Two months later, my air conditioner stopped working again, so I checked on the antifreeze level, and it was again empty. The mechanic told me that another freeze plug had failed, and he estimated it would be between $250 and $450 to replace it. I do have the first freeze plug; the second has not been replaced yet.

Various problems involving 1999 Ford Taurus station wagon. The power steering made excessive noise, dealer replaced the steering rack. The vehicle front end was out of alignment. The check engine light illuminated intermittently. The dealer replaced several components to correct this occurrence. The technician removed and replaced #1 coil, replaced the spark plugs, cleared all the codes and then the vehicle ran fine. The front and rear brakes were replaced and the rotors machined. The temperature gauge malfunctioned. The technician replaced the freeze out plug and thermostat. Windshield washers failed. The vehicle steering wheel was loose. The technician indicated that the vehicle needed front and rear struts, sway bar links and rear subframe bushing. When accelerating the vehicle's transmission slipped and on cold start reverse jerks into gear, dealer replaced the trans unit. The D/S door rubber on the bottom of the door was coming off. D/S seat belt would not retract. Antifreeze was leaking in out the rear block.
