CarComplaints.com Notes: Most people need a car where the coil springs don't puncture or shred tires while driving. The Taurus fails in that respect.

The 1999-2003 Ford Taurus has a huge problem with coil springs breaking, which can puncture or even shred tires while driving.

The US government spent THREE YEARS (2008-2011) investigating the 2002-2003 Taurus coil springs. Although Taurus/Sable from earlier years were recalled, ultimately the NHTSA did not force a recall. They determined that because there had been no deaths & very few bad crashes & injuries, the broken coil springs defect was no big deal & not a safety defect. Tell that to all the owners who had close calls...

The passenger interior door panel is peeling off. I tried to glue it myself, but it is not holding too welol. Also, the oil is leaking on the engine which sometimes causes smoke to come from under the hood.

I just bought this car CASH ! A week after I get in the car I look back and noticed the back passenger side leather is hanging ? I took it back to the dealer ( Mullinax ) they said they could not fix this problem I had to go to someone that works with upholstery.

That would have cost about $100.00 so I bought some Gel super glue and did it myself . So much for buying a car at a well known dealer .

I have never seen this happen in a car before! The car is only 6 years old. I took it to Maaco and the person told me that the vinyl has separated from the foam backing. The vinyl is peeling off the rear panels on the right and left sides. Maaco told me that they would charge $100 to glue it back. They said they've seen that happen in Ford cars before. I have not taken it to Ford because they don't have Saturday hours and I need my car during the week.
