Sierra 3500 Denali 6.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 61,000 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Multiple times I have taken this truck in stating the truck tries to shove me thru the stop signs and lights then suddenly jolts as if a car hit me. I've been told it was standard, normal, typical for my truck. I have had HORSES FALL IN MY TRAILER DUE TO THE SUDDEN JERK! The truck has lost all ability to move forward or reverse under its own power multiple times and the dealerships constantly tell me it is normal. I've expressed countless times it has a torque converter or transmission issue.

Brought the truck in with transmission codes and have been told there's nothing wrong. It has had fluid change at the dealership and full service to transmission etc. The dealership did finally attempt to fix with a wire harness harness change on the transmission. The problem still persists and dealerships continue to tell me the truck is fine. I will never own another GM after the constant BS from GM. I expect this sort of crap from Ford. Never thought GM would stoop this low.

Sierra 3500 Denali Duramax

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,722 miles

I purchased a 2018 GMC Sierra 3500HD Denali in DRW configuration in February of this year after after the transmission on my 2012 F250 Lariat failed after only 137,000 kilometers (85,000 miles) of medium duty use. I did much research on the components before I put out almost $100,000 to buy a new truck and reluctantly settled on the GMC Sierra as the best of the worst.

The first things I noticed on the GMC truck was the lack of visibility at the front corner pillars. The mirrors are positioned in such a way as to block the view of an intersection when looking at a 45 degree angle from the driver seat. It caused me to almost hit my neighbour who was on his tractor at the intersection near our farm.

Next, someone in a parking lot grabbed me and pointed at a dangling position light off the rear right fender. I could not figure out what had caused it to break one of its retaining tabs. The remaining three of them all broke in succession for no apparent reason in the following weeks (weak plastic/design). I had to silicon them in place temporarily until I can get them replaced.

Then, I noticed that the software controlling the settings for the vehicle would not keep the personalized options in memory. A minor annoyance in the end but not what I came to expect from other manufacturers.

Then, the much vaunted Allison transmission broke down on a trip at only 7,600 km (4,700 miles)?!? It has been almost four weeks now without a truck as they are trying to figure out what went wrong with it. The dealer in Haliburton, Ontario has been fantastic though in accommodating us, which was not expected given the poor review the motor company gets about its customer service.

We are very disappointed in the vehicle and will be looking to exchange it as soon as we have it back in our hands. We will not purchase another GM product in the future as clearly they do not live up to the marketing claims.
