CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2011 Honda Accord has a solid reputation (so far), with one very significant flaw: uncomfortable seats.

Owners have consistently reported uncomfortable seats with the entire 8th generation (2008-2012) of Honda Accords. Complaints range from back pain to leg circulation problems due to bad lumbar support, cushioning, & seat angle. Complaints aren't limited to only a certain body type -- the seat comfort problems are from a wide spectrum of owner height & weight.

The common theme we hear is "never noticed this during the test drive." Unfortunately for unwary buyers, the seat pain is noticeable after 15-20 minutes.

I have a 2011 Honda Accord with 70,000 miles and the power steering rack went bad and is leaking fluid. It is unsafe to drive without power steering. There was no warning when it failed.

I was pulling slowly out of a drive-through bank facility onto a one-way street with no traffic, and suddenly my car started to turn to the side. I had no control over the steering and the car ping-ponged from curb to curb, striking several stationary objects and a parked car.

Heard a whirring noise and smoke started coming out of the right side of my engine, my rack N pinion power steering was leaking and my car almost caught on fire. Had the car towed to my mechanic and he stated there is a crack in the rack N pinion which is leaking fluid, estimated 600-1200 dollars to fix it. I looked online and there was a previous recall for this problem on another year but not the 2011.

I have took my car to the shop because it keeps speeding up and down and they said they didn't couldn't find anything wrong with the transmission and it's still doing it and I had the transmission fluid change hoping it would help it but it didn't.. they changed the fluid but not the filter.. now the transmission seal is leaking.. I have had this car to the shop several times.. the car speeds up going up or down hills or driving straight on flat roads.

I had an SRS light on at 44000 miles and took it into Honda, figure it was a safety thing they would take care of it. Honda wanted to charge me 100 dollars for a diagnostic. I told them no. They then told me they would talk to Honda to wave fee. Honda paid for diagnostic came back with code indicating cable reel issue. Honda said it would be 545 dollars to replace and if it didn't get replaced it may cause issues with airbag inflator and may not inflate in a car accident. I told them this was a Honda safety problem and they should replace it. The newest round of recalls were for Accord 2008-2010. I guess I will just wait around until my car eventually gets recalled until then cross my fingers I don't get in an accident.

I lost power and I notice battery light indicator came on after making a right turn while going 5 mph while raining in a puddle of water. Shortly after which, maybe 5 seconds, I regained power back. This has happened twice while turning during a rain, although it does not happen every time it rains.

Transmission makes a loud whining noise. Dealer diagnosed a power steering rack fluid leak. I'm told very unusual for only approx. 46K miles. No recalls for this year model yet. The repair estimate is over $1500. My 36K mile warranty is expired so dealer won't cover the repair. I bought a Honda because I heard and believed they were very good cars. I no longer have that belief! I will not purchase another Honda. No other maker has required extensive repair work at such low mileage.

The dealership advised that the power steering rack was leaking the fluid and would have to be replaced. I know there was a recall for this same thing on earlier model Honda Accord. I wonder if it's still an issue as my car is just over 3 years old and only 46,000 miles.

I brought the car used certified with 6,800 miles. After a week of driving, the car feels like it has a mind of it own, I don't have full control of the car. Every time I hit a bump the car will swing left and right. Or when I'm going over 55 mph on the highway, the car moves left and right by it self. Something feels loose, I was driving local on 11/25/12 and made a left turn, the engine just shut off on me, I took it back to the dealer and the dealer found nothing wrong with the car or with the suspension. My friend have the same problem with his car, the suspension on the 2011 Honda Accord SE don't feel right.the problem needs to be corrected, I have a 2 year old and a new born in my house that goes in and out of this vehicle. I don't need to wait until something happens for the dealer or manufacturer to fix the problem.

At approximately 50+ mph the front of the car shakes. This has been going on for almost over an year. I took it to the dealership, said nothing is wrong. It starts to shake so bad that you have to let up on the accelerator and almost stop, before you feel safe enough to continue on. Shaking is the worse for the first 3 miles at the start of the day but never seems to completely goes away.

2011 Honda Accord. Consumer writes in regards to excessive steering vibration. The consumer stated the steering vibration traveled throughout the vehicle. The consumer took the vehicle back to the dealer on five separate occasions, to have the problem corrected, but to date, they have been unable to do so.

I purchased a new 2011 Accord ex-L and after 6 months of light driving (city and hwy) I noticed a shimmy/shaking in the steering wheel. I took the car back to the dealership 5 times for this issue and they replaced one tire and one wheel, balanced the tires numerous times but they were unable to resolve the issue. Now the dealer refuses to acknowledge there is a problem saying it is not a big deal and that all Accord have this issue. I even met with the factory rep and he noticed the problem but said that Honda and dealer can't resolve it as it is not related to tires, wheels or drive train. But could not offer any explanation as to what causes the shimmy saying the shimmy is "normal" and it's not a big deal. I've asked for a new set of tires and wheels but they refused to do it saying they can't afford the cost and it will not make the car drive differently. Very disappointed with Honda and dealer.

My car has a steering shimmy and vibration problem that began as mild and is now severe and vibrates the entire vehicle. Honda balanced my tires several times, then replaced all 4 Michelin Pilot tires with 4 new ones. Those had to be repeatedly balanced and then were replaced a 2nd time in less than 1,000 miles. The 2nd set was repeatedly balanced with no results. Both front axles were replaced and both front rotors were replaced with the vibration never changing. Honda's area rep agreed to replace wheels and tires with after market bbs wheels and Bridgestone serenity tires to rule out wheel and tire problems. Problem did not change and has now gotten worse as the mileage increases. (9K miles now). You can google 2011 Honda Accord shimmy problem and see that the problem is widespread in the usa and Canada, but Honda usa is telling me that I am the only one. I have bought 4 brand new Accord exl V6 cars in 8 years, have loved these cars, and am very surprised that Honda is flat out lying to me. My dealer has been helpful and supportive, and the area rep has been diligent in his efforts, too. However Honda usa is stonewalling me, by not returning calls, and delay after delay. I have asked for a buyback under lemon law statute, as the dealer says that they cannot fix this problem, that they definitely acknowledge. (they replaced tires 3 times, and wheels and axles once) Honda usa is taking the position that this is not a big deal, but the vehicle is not safe to drive. Honda usa told me to take the car back to the dealer today, but the dealer doesn't want it and says that Honda is done chasing the problem. Can you help me understand my options, and if your administration can assist me in getting Honda's attention at (hopefully) a higher level of management? I sincerely appreciate any suggestions that you can offer.
