As soon as I purchased this vehicle, I noticed that the transmission would slip randomly at speeds between 40-50 MPH. I told the service advisor within that same week. They informed me that "If it was a problem, then warning lights would come on". They offered to test drive with me. I informed them that it occurs so infrequently that I wasn't sure they would witness it. Fast forward to March 5, 2024, the slipping has become consistent enough to occur at least once during every drive. Always between 40 and 50 MPH. On my way home from work on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024, then dash lights all lit up and it said to pull over and stop as soon as it was safe to do so and that the power will be reduced and that there was a transmission/emissions system problem, see your dealer.
I pulled over and called my family (dealership was closed). They advised me to turn the car off for 5-10 minutes, then restart. I did this and the emergency warning message went away but the warning message and check engine light remained on. I called Roadside assistance. They advised that I drive home, then call back to arrange a tow. The vehicle was towed to the dealership the next morning. At the dealership, the check engine code had cleared and there was no data stored as to the source of the code. So, here I am driving this car again, transmission slipping multiple times each drive. The dealership stated that they are having a lot of these same problems come in right now with the Accords. I'm concerned I have purchased a lemon. I have an out-of-state trip coming up and I'm afraid to take this car. It's a new car, it should not be unreliable. I bought a new car for the reliability and safety. What's going on, Honda?
Update from Apr 15, 2024: Edited to add: I did a deep dive into online forums recently. They reported that there are fuel injector problems causing these cars to feel like the transmission is slipping when it is actually misfiring. Well that following Monday morning on my way to work, the vehicle started acting up and all of the dash lights came on and the car started idling really high. Thankfully, I was 10 minutes away from the dealership and they were open. I was able to get the car there to show them the dash lights and the high idling. They kept the vehicle for a little over 2 days. The error code indicated that it was a fuel injector problem and it was misfiring on the 3rd cylinder (just as I had read on the forums). They at first told me that the fuel injectors were on backorder and it could take up to 2 months for them to come in. They put me in a loaner car. Surprisingly, I got a call in 2 days stating that my car was fixed! They overnighted the parts and fixed my car. So far, so good, the vehicle is running great and no misfiring. According to the forums, my MPG should be increasing with the new fuel injectors. Fingers crossed that the problem is fixed.
