Honda issued a recall in March 2020 for repair of a airbag inflator. This recall stated that it was dangerous to drive my car and that the problem with the airbag could result in fatality to me or my passengers. It is now July 4, 2020 and there are still not parts available to fix the problem so I cannot make an appointment to have it fixed. I called Honda customer service on June 29, 2020 and was told that I would need to just wait. It says on the Honda website that a rental car will be provided if parts are temporarily not available to fix a problem but they refused to do that. I think it is unacceptable that it has been 4 months since a problem was recognized, no parts are available to fix the problem, and Honda will not provide a rental car even though they state that using my car could result in death.

Summary: American Honda motor co., Inc. (Honda) is recalling certain model year 2000 Accord coupe, 2000 Accord sedan, 2000 civic coupe, 2000 civic sedan, 2000-2001 CR-V, and 2000-2001 Odyssey vehicles. These vehicles may have received a replacement driver frontal air bag module as part of a vehicle repair. Due to a manufacturing issue, the replacement nadi inflator may absorb moisture, causing the inflator to rupture or the air bag cushion to underinflate. Safety risk: In the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment, an inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants. An underinflated air bag cushion may not properly protect the occupant. These scenarios increase the risk of serious injury or death. Remedy: Honda will notify owners in an interim notification that the parts necessary to repair their vehicles are currently not available. Honda will send a second notification when parts are available, and dealers will inspect the air bags in the vehicles, replacing the driver frontal air bag inflator with an inflator of a different design, as necessary. For additional questions or to get help locating a dealer, owners may contact american Honda customer support & campaign center at 1-888-234-2138. Recall status: Recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available manufacturer hasn't tried to fix the issue, if not remedied it may kill/hurt the driver even more.

March 3, 2020 I was sent an initial recall notice on my 2001 CRV. As the original owner I have been driving a car with an airbag deemed dangerous by Honda. They waited 19 years to do an initial recall. On March 24,2020 I called a local dealer and then called them again on April 27, 2020. Both times they informed me the replacement part is not available. On April 30, 2020 sent a complaint to the New York state attorney general's office regarding same. Called Honda customer support on May 4, 2020 and they politely informed me that the replacement parts haven't been built yet. Everyone is telling me to be patient. The problem is that I am a senior citizen and an essential worker during the pandemic and need to use my vehicle to commute to work, to continue to serve the public. The danger of even the slightest crash meaning my death by "metal fragments" flying if the airbag deploys is quite unnerving to say the least. Please help.

I have a Honda CR-V that was issued a safety recall on it's airbags back in early March of 2020. In the recall it was stated that there was no fix for the problem, and they would update me when there was one. I have not had communication with Honda since the initial recall letter. In the letter, it was stated that if I had not been updated on the status of the recall after 30 days, I should file a complaint with the NHTSA. After doing some research, it appears that there is still no solution for this particularly dangerous recall, and it has now been several months since the initial recall notice. I'm not in a position to go out and buy a new car, given the crisis the world is currently facing. I still use this car to get to and from work (albeit very cautiously), though, I am not comfortable having any passengers in the vehicle at this time. This seems unreasonable of Honda to ask their faithful consumers (this is my second Honda) to drive a vehicle with what is essentially a grenade strapped to the steering wheel, with no remedy available within the near future.
