On June 23, 2017, at about 8:10 a.M., I turned in to a dry cleaners store at 5702 everhard road, corpus christi, Texas. As I was slowly turning into a parking space and applying my brakes, my 2008 Honda dr-V accelerated on it's own, at a speed so fast I could not stop it, even though I was applying the brakes as hard as I could. The CR-V traveled about 20-25 feet and hit a pillar of the building head on. The CR-V hit the pillar with such force that it rebounded back approximately 5 feet from the point of impact. The front of the car was crushed in and the driver's air bag inflated. The sudden, unexplained acceleration of the CR-V on it's own caused the damage to the front end of the car. My foot was on the brakes the entire time and the CR-V would not stop.

I had just made a sharp turn in the parking garage to pull into my parking spot. The car accelerated from essentially a dead stop. My CRV accelerated, jumped a parking divider and struck a concrete pole that holds up the roof of the parking garage. I was standing on the brakes and it would not stop. You could smell the burning in the car. The airbags did not deploy. I struck the L front bumper, blew the drivers tire, crumpled in the fender and did internal engine damage. The car had to be towed. I was seen and treated at an urgent clinic that night for back pain. A city police report was not filed since it occurred on hospital property but it was filed with hospital police. The damage was repaired at a professional body shop. They were unable to reproduce the acceleration. Said "it must just be a glitch....."

I was in a parking lot and wanted to move to another one. I put car in gear and as I started out I heard the engine rev very loud and car lurched forward. I applied brakes and placed the car in park. Engine was still revving high. I turned off engine and then back on again. Car seemed to behave normally and I drove home (about 1 mile). I called a Honda dealer service number and explained what happened. They were supposed to call back but did not. The next day I called the service at another dealer (dch Honda of paramus). I spoke to an [xxx] who told me there were no recalls for unintended acceleration for any 2008 CRV's. I wrote an E-mail to her to document the phone conversation then called another information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

While driving from my home I got to a toll booth and after paying the toll placed my foot on the accelerator and the car simply revved as if it was in neutral with rpms varying indiscriminately. Suddenly the car jerked forward with a loud bang and moved normally I pulled to the shoulder and checked fluids and for signs of any problems. We received no dashboard warning lights. We continued our trip but the car would not shift between 3rd and 4th gear and we couldn't maintain speed. Suddenly the incident at the toll both repeated itself. I shut the car down although temperature was ok as was oil pressure. After a short wait we resumed driving and the car performed normally for about 50 miles and then it was back to no shift or long duration before shift and then a banging noise. We got to our destination and car was parked for about 3 hours. After starting the car and placing it in drive I had a hard shift between 1st and 2nd gear I was making a left hand turn and the failure to accelerate put us in danger of a rear impact collision. I called Honda but it was not something they would even talk about over the phone. We continued on our return trip and were cruising at the 70 mph limit in the middle lane on I 75 in Florida when suddenly the transmission dropped out of gear going into a neutral mode the engine rpms were moving all over the place. I was slowing down and attempting to get to the shoulder. After getting to the shoulder I cycled through all the transmission positions and could achieve 3rd gear but it would go in and out of 4th gear. When these conditions occurred I did not feel I was in control of the vehicle nor safe. I have never had a problem with this vehicle before however I am being told that it is a problem on multiple models of Honda. I am a trained, certified, accident, engineer reconstructionist ( mostly large vehicles and urban buses ).

This has been a repeated problem with unwanted acceleration. I have filed several complaints with your Agency to no avail. I have contacted Honda and they insist there is no problem. This is a safety issue and it needs to be addressed.

This is my third complaint filed with NHTSA regarding 6 instances of unwanted acceleration when braking. Since my last complaint I contacted my dealer, boardwalk Honda of 6807 tilton road, egg harbor township, New Jersey 609.428.4422. The dealer made a contact with Honda corporate and an appointment with a Honda representative to inspect my vehicle was set. On Jan. 27, 2014 they had my vehicle for a full day. Because the unwanted acceleration did not occur on that date, I was given a report that nothing is wrong with the CR-V. I had explained that it only occurred 6 times over a 6 month period and it was not reasonable to expect it to occur on a specific date during the inspection. I heard that it could be the power control module (PCM), but apparently Honda does not want to replace it as a safety issue. I need help with this problem before someone is hurt.

This problem has occurred twice. The first time the engine speed increased with the brakes being applied. I checked for an obstruction of a floor mat and there was no obstruction. The most recent time was yesterday (Oct. 17, 2013) and again the car accelerated with my foot on the brake. This could cause an accident. I will visit Honda and advise the service manager.

I was slowly approaching the store front to the establishment that I was going to enter. I braked and the automobile began to accelerate and would not stop until the it climbed the curb and drove into the stores front door. This caused quite a bit of damage to the store and I was injured and transported to the hospital. I was examined and test and X-rays were taken indicating that I had fractured my sternum. The air bags never deployed...updated 11/07/12

When backing out of an unpaved parking area I hit a large ponderosa pine tree with the rear bumper. The bumper absorbed the impact with a small scratch to the bumper cover. Upon impact, the car was no longer in my control for it lurched forward about 40 feet into the parking space I had left and hit another large tree with the center of the car. The car accelerated forward so quickly I do not recall when the airbag deployed. Immediately after the collision all four wheels continued spinning and dug small depressions in the dirt until the engine stopped. I had no control over the vehicle after backing into the tree. I suffered bruised ribs and a severe burn to my hand from the airbag. A sheriff assessed the accident and called an ambulance to assess my condition and I did not require hospitalization. There was significant damage (estimated $11,000) to the front of the car. This was my first accident and I'm concerned that my Honda CR-V is unsafe for the above reason.

I was pulling into parking space in garage with my 2008 Honda CRV. Put brake on and heard loud revving sound of engine (like when a car peels out from a stop light). The brake did nothing and the car surged forward with the revving right into the concrete wall of the garage. It hit so hard it made my glasses fly off my face. It bounced off the concrete wall about 3-4 feet and stopped. My foot was on the brake the whole time. After the car stopped, there was a really bad smell of something burning. My airbag did not deploy, but the car impacted a little to the right of center. Fortunately, I had my seat belt on. The shoulder strap jammed from the impact and could not be loosened. After I turned the engine off, the dashboard lights remained on and the bad smell intensified. The car had to be towed, I was told it "was not drivable" by the Honda dealer where it was towed. The dealer wouldn't even look at the car or go smell the odor as "it was not drivable and needed to have the body work done first." I was told they would smell for the odor after the body was fixed.

After parking car and while braking to put it in "park" gear, the CRV ex-L raced forward at high speed and veered to the right. Upon impact, the vehicle then went in reverse and when braking, the car races instead of stopping. Upon hitting the back curb and a vehicle, the car was thrust forward and raced forward. CRV ex-L would not respond to braking. Updated 04/25/08
