I was pulling into a 7-11 and it is a small parking lot so you kind of brake as soon as you pull in. I had my foot on the brake and all of a sudden the car accelerated to about 20-25 MPH crashing through the front window of the store. NO one was hurt but the damage to the vehicle was about $7000. Although insurance is paying it, the out of pocket so far has been close to $600 for tax on a rental car, deductible and other minor things. I am seeing that others have this problem. I was ticketed for "careless driving". even though I had my foot on the brake and the went off on its own. If I could get rid of it I would!!!

While pulling into a parking space, the car accelerated at a fast rate of speed and crashed into a tree. It's still being evaluated as to the damage. Driver and passenger suffered bruising.

CR-V ES V6

Was trying to park car, when I pushed brake it started making a grinding loud noise and started speeding forward. I tried to stop but it went faster, car went almost air bound and hit the palm tree in front of parking bump. Of course, being a woman driver, I received several comments of "not knowing" how to drive. In the meantime my car had to be towed, did not realize that almost the whole car is made of plastic so it became a mangled mess. I have been without a car since then because I had trimmed down my insurance since I do not do much driving, as you can tell by my mileage.

Car is totally unsafe and I have had several Honda's with no problem, but this is beyond expectations. Never again. My insurance will probably double and my deductible is $1000. plus I get nightmares from incident. On top of that, if I want to trade in my car now, the value will be much less because of the damage. I AM ANGRY AND FRUSTRATED!

CR-V EXL V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 12,000 miles

I had driven over 300 miles on 8/15/17, and upon returning to town stopped to pick up my dog from boarding. I turned the vehicle off and was out of it for 15-20 minutes. I started it back up, drove about 0.8 miles, tapped the brake as vehicle entered a non-banked, 30 mph curve (I was going under 30 at time I tapped brake). Immediately, the vehicle began to accelerate, set cruise control on its own and settled at 45 mph. By then I was off the road and attempting to keep vehicle upright. My dog was FREAKING OUT!!! It took a few seconds for my brain to register what was happening - as I looked at speedometer, I concurrently realized the vehicle was going 45 and that the cruise light was on. I tapped off the cruise, located on the steering wheel, and braked hard to keep vehicle from continuing to travel into a grove of trees. I was able to pull back on the road and drive about 12 miles home.

Since I do not feel safe driving it now, I had it towed to the body shop, over $8,000.00 damage repaired plus the 4 signs mowed down that DOT will be billing me for. Almost 2 months later, I'm still awaiting my vehicle to be returned. The local Honda service dept. director will be driving it and running some diagnostics prior to my getting it back. Seriously thinking about whether I should just take a hit and trade it in for ?????

Update from Oct 10, 2017: I have already filed report with NHTSA.

When I first looked at Honda Complaints on the internet, I discovered over 200 complaints relating to unintended acceleration - what does it take for a recall?

Just very concerned that it might happen again. The car just accelerated on its own while braking at an intersection.
