I have 5 sections on my car featuring paint problems. The problems are identical on each section. Honda agreed to paint my roof and trunk. They refused to paint my front hood, front driver quarter panel, and side panel. After much more complaining, Honda agreed to pay half of the front hood. I declined their offer because it is 100% their fault.

I have always enjoyed my Honda Civic. It is a very dependable and well made car. I was shocked to see big blotches of the paint clearcoat coming off over the last few months. All over the roof of my car are big spots that look very unsightly. I'm looking to see if others are experiencing this and I see I'm not alone. I will be contacting Honda to see if they will at least help to repaint the car.

Roof and trunk, the clear coat is wearing off. The Honda sales rep said it was sap or bird droppings. Honda wouldn't do anything about it. I saved the money and had it painted.

Then in August I received a recall notice for the hood and front bumpers (crows feet) Honda painted. Then in October received a recall notice for the hood and trunk, I sent in the paperwork to get re-imbursed. Now the top of the back bumpers by the trunk and the sides by the windshield and the top of the doors (everything horizontal) is now also loosing the clear coat. You would think Honda would know by now that this was a bad paint job. So much for the Honda rep knowing anything about paint.

I am going to try to work with my Honda dealer on the remaining parts of my car that need to be fixed. To me it's called good faith..... I work for a very large company and we always repair in good faith to the customer. I'm sure Honda can afford to fix this problem

I purchased my Honda Civic new in 2006. Within the first 5 years the paint began losing its color. It started on the top, but over the past two years has spread to the fenders, trunk, and hood. After maintaining this car properly I was told my Honda motor corp and my local honda dealership that it was a maintenance issue and I had not properly cared for my car. Plus the mileage was too high and that lead to the paint issue. Really!? My mileage is directly correlated to my peeling paint. Give me a break! Honda clearly does not care about a known issue and the customers they are driving away. My car is so bad at this point it looks like a total clunker. The entire car needs to be sanded down to bare metal and painted over. Shane on Honda! I will go elsewhere for my next vehicle since after 5 years of owning a brand new car my car started looking like someone had taken a Brillo pad to the car!

I loved the car but i noticed that the car stared getting white spots on the roof. I called and they stated it was due to the sun. That is a bunch of bull because i had a pontiac in dark blue and had over a 150,000 and the paint never faded. i see hondas do this all the time. i will never buy a honda again due to this issue. I called and they gave me nothing but excuses.

I feel that my 2006 Honda civic is a nightmare; a few weeks ago the engine block cracked and now I'm dealing with the paint chipping off of the top of the vehicle. It looks so awful as others have stated it feels as if my vehicle is a piece of junk and it's embarrassing. I wish that Honda will pay to have my vehicle repainted because I purchased this vehicle brand new and I trusted Honda to give me a good product but so far it seems that all I was given was a horror story.

I bought a Honda because of their reputation for reliability as well as re-sale value. The car runs great, but I am ashamed to be seen driving it. I feel as though I'm driving a worn out piece of garbage, instead of a car that I can be proud of. I am going to be having to trade the car very soon to get a four door (new baby on the way) and know that I am going to take a major hit on trade-in, when one of my reasons for buying the car to begin with was so I would be in a good equity situation when the time came to trade. Honda knows there is a problem and needs to have to make this right!

yeah got the letter telling me about the extended warranty and decided to bring my car to Nelson Honda in El Monte, CA. They preferred me to Fix Auto El Monte Body Shop, and i got my roof and hood painted due to sun spots and cracking. The work was excellent! Best part about it was that Nelson Honda paid for it all haha

I have had so many issues with the paint on my car and the first time I notified Honda of it the field rep didn't even come and physically look at the paint but just decided to deny the claim because I was right outside of the mileage on the warranty. I then filed another claim a year later (2012) because it has gotten significantly worse, to the extent of my car that was just paid off looking like it came from a junk yard. this time without the field rep looking at it Honda said they will pay 50% of the cost to have it reprinted. In the meantime between doing what Honda asks of me - I had my case manager promise me many things and later change his mind and tell me well things change. When asking to speak with someone above him or have my case handled by someone else I was told "I don't have a boss and if you don't want to work this out with me I will close the case." I feel like I have been mistreated and I know I am not the only 2006 Honda civic owner who has had paint problems. My hood has cracks or crows feet all over and the top and trunk of the car are covered in white spots that are peeling paint off like dead skin. It's embarrassing and I only bought this car because I THOUGHT it was a nice reliable car. Honda really needs to consider a recall.

clearcoat and paint problems clearcoat and paint problems clearcoat and paint problems clearcoat and paint problems

About 6 months ago, when my car was about 6 years old, I started noticing whitish markings in the paint on the roof of my car. Since then these light marks have turned into major chipping and peeling paint. I have NEVER owned a car that had this problem, whether or not the car was mostly in a garage or left outside on the street. Before going into the dealer to complain, I decided to search the web as I had a feeling I was not the only one having this problem. I was right! Thousands of other car owners have been experiencing the same thing in both Honda Civic's and Accords, from model years 2003 to 2007, and there is even a Class Action lawsuit detailing the problem. Honda, apparently, is not accepting responsibility for this glaring defect and I, for one, am extremely disappointed in their refusal to step up and recall the cars or issue payments to owners to cover repainting. It is OBVIOUS that this is their responsibility, and their refusal to do the right thing, in this day and age of social media, will likely severely hurt their sales—especially if myself and others organize a major campaign to bring this issue out in the open. Perhaps a BOYCOTT HONDA campaign, complete with a facebook page, twitter campaign, and picketing at their dealerships across the county will help them along in their thinking. I have only owned Toyotas in the past, and I decided to give Honda a try this time around. If I get the runaround at the dealer, I will NEVER purchase a Honda again, and I will be sure to tell everyone I know to stay clear of their products as well. There are thousands of others out there doing the same, Honda. Do you really want go through what other car companies have by stonewalling, only to have to back down due to public outrage?

I paid Honda for the coverage on the clear coat the warranty expired 1 prior to me contacting the dealership who did asoulutely nothing Spreen Honda said it was not their problem not their warranty. I contacted Honda Corporation and they felt it was for the element and basically was not their problem either. If you drive around you will see that most 2006 Civic have the same sh*tty paint job/clear coat. Especially, the Matallic Grey which is the cooper color. It really sucks now that the car is six years old it is all peeling off. You would have thought Honda would honor this since it is all 2006 Civic models!
