I was driving my car in the way Vegas, when it began to sound horrible and I thought I had a flat tire, but it wasnt. When I came back to Pasadena I went to the dealer they said it was the brakes but it is not dangerous it can happen again but it is not covered for the warranty.

Had to panic brake while at low street speed to avoid an accident. Anti-lock kicked in. Accident avoided.

Immediately afterwards, when the car now comes to a stop and I release the brake pedal to go there is a metallic clunk from the left front brake. (It does not happen when the car is parked.)

Sounds like a disc pad is moving up and down in it's seat. The car does stop correctly without any pull. Therefore I suspect that a brake pad retaining clip(s) or the tang on a disc pad has been bent, maybe or something else happened.

I pulled the wheel for a quick inspection (did not pull the caliper as the car is under warranty) but saw nothing. I did check the clips as best as I could see. Also checked the caliper bolts and backing plate but they were fine. Wheels are properly torqued.

I'll be bringing the car in to the dealer for further inspection shortly. Hopefully they'll pull the caliper and check for proper fit and operation. If they find 'nothing' I'll have them change the clips just to humor me.

My concern is that the brakes shouldn't damage themselves if used as intended. That indicates a possible quality issue.

I'm very frustrated with the clanking sound coming from my brakes. Two Honda dealerships can't diagnose the problem. Even been told it's normal for Hondas. I just want it fixed.

bumping sound coming from rear when brakes applied

I noticed a bumping/thumping sound coming from the rear of my 2015 Honda Civic when I'm applying the brakes. I took it to my dealer to have the problem checked out and they were unable to diagnose. The technician was able to duplicate the noise but told me that he didn't know what was causing it. My concern is that there could be something wrong with my brakes. They assured me that my brakes were fine because they took off the wheels and did a full inspection. However, my car is still making the annoying noise and frankly I feel like they should have done more to figure out what's causing it but instead just told me to bring it back if it gets worse. Great customer service Honda.
