Friend of a friend is a transmission mechanic and he has a software program that the general public does not have access to that states there is a recall on the transmission for the 2007 and 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid. I was headed home on the interstate one evening on 6/19/2014, and my car started making the loudest noise, but only when I am traveling 55mph and over. I took to a mechanic the next day and he told me it was the transmission (high ratio only). Took the next day to a transmission shop and they ran computer diagnosis and it reported the same thing, plus the shifter was bad. Now that I know this, I am headed to Honda dealer. Wish me luck.
Also, I had problems with the hybrid battery, where the IMA light stayed on and the car would take off very slowly and not engage. This happened at 110K miles, but the Honda dealer where I use to live in Mandeville, LA put in a rebuilt IMA for half price, because I was over the mileage from the class action suit. Costs me $1,400, but it still does not work right and am only getting 32mpg. Other than that I have no other problems. Would I recommend anybody buy this type vehicle, NO. Not until Honda figures out how to make a hybrid car that works. Currently I have 120K miles, but all highway miles and it's paid for.
