Odyssey EX-L 3.5L Sohc 24-valve V6

I took van to dealer and they said that it was not covered under warranty. I replaced the power steering pump but it did not fix the problem. At low speeds it is really hard to turn the steering wheel.

Odyssey EX With Leather V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 160,000 miles

Complained about this problem in 2005 after purchasing brand new vehicle. Honda Barn in Reading replaced the pump, but this didn't fixed the problem. They said when a fix came in they'd let me know.

Read about the service bulletin extending the warranty on the pump. Went to Honda Barn to get the pump replaced. They said I was out of the warranty because of my mileage.

Honda America was called and they agreed that I would pay a $100 deductible. They replaced the pump in 10/2010.

I started having the same trouble again, but it's getting more dangerous. While on the road and turning a corner, I'm losing the power steering. Called the dealer and was told the warranty was up after 12 months or 12,000 miles and I would have to pay for the repair. I called Honda America and was told the same thing. The only thing I could do was file a complaint with the Product Concerns Department. Seems that the new pumps are just as faulty as the old ones. Hoping Honda steps up again and sends out another Warranty Extension on their new power steering pumps.

Odyssey EXL V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 85,000 miles

The steering problem is so bad it has balded my front tires. I called American Honda in regards to the steering, they said there is a extended warranty for the steering issue I have. The warranty was issues Dec/2010. And it was for 100 000 or for a length of time. we bought my van in the US but we ended up having to return to Canada due to the economy. Needless to say we came home with not very much in the back of a Uhaul. The real Kicker is good ol HONDA will not cover my van because I did not comply with them and I crossed the boarder wrong!!! AS I QUOTE IT IS IN YOUR MANUAL!!!!!! The dealership here in Hamilton knows full well what the prob is but is Wanting to charge me $99. just to look at it, to tell me that yes it is what you said it is and we will replace it for a mere $400. Don,t forget 13% tax.

Odyssey EXL 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 38,000 miles

This a second level after the noise. I think it is the last stages on the whole system. Honda just said that it is outside the warranty even they knew about the issue back in 2005 and never tried to fix it.

Odyssey EXL 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 43,000 miles

There is a loud and annoying whining sound that happens when the temperature outside is cold. It usually occurs when I turn the wheel. Honda didn't stand by their product. They would only do it if there is a recall. That is a safety issue because it will ultimately lead to make the steering very hard and not even.

Odyssey EXL (RES/NAV) 3.5L

My wife and I were once proud Honda snobs. We loved the Odyssey we had before (2002 EXL-RES). When the lease ended we couldn't wait to get into our new 2005 Odyssey. It worked great until the warranty ended at 36k miles. Power steering is gone in cold/wet weather and is most noticeable at low speeds like in a parking lot or driving around our neighborhood. Note that it doesn't need to be that cold or wet either because we're in the Phoenix area! I took it into the dealer to get it diagnosed and they quoted me almost $700 to replace the power steering pump that sounds like is only a temporary fix based on a lot of the comments I've seen here and elsewhere. This is only one of many problems, some of which cost $2,600 to fix (A/C), power door, etc that has turned us off of Hondas. We're done!

Odyssey EX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 83,885 miles

I bought the Honda with the mindset that it is going to last me atleast 10 years. Once the warranty was over, things started to fall apart. The most recent is the tightening of the steering wheel at low speeds - almost impossible to park. Looking at various auto sites, I see that this is a resonating complaint. Does Honda ever look at these complaints. There should be a recall in place. This is dangerous.

Odyssey LX 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 114,000 miles

Power steering did not work well at low speed. It was hard to negotiate turns in parking lot. Flushed fluid twice this year, paid more than US $100 each time, but it did not make it better. Pump was replaced and after spending nearly $1,000 + annoying hours, it was fixed although I still do not like steering feel, but this may be due to weaker suspensions typical to high mileage vehicles like mine.

Odyssey EX-L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 51,000 miles

This problem started as a whine when turning the wheel, much like the other complaints. It became difficult to steer at low speeds, so had to take it in. Honda charged $400 for a new pump, and almost as much labor. They were unwilling to provide any adjustment given the fairly new status of the van. I am complaining to Honda USA now. Also, my tailgate lifts have failed today. Worst new car I ever owned.
