The temperature outside was around 90 degrees , parked my car outside the driveway, private driveway , all of a sudden it has a noise of a crack and next thing , its whole back windshield exploded..I strongly think it is a defect and I need Honda to reimburse me..

I asked the guy who repaired the windshield, and he says he changes out the back windshields quite a bit , the most popular model for replacement glasses..

windshield shattered

I parked my car this morning and went in to work. I was backed into a parking space with my rear against the building. I came out to go home and noticed my back window was shattered. It seems as if it was broken from the inside. The police came to investigate and saw nothing - no evidence of anything hitting it, nothing! They said it may have been the heat, but considering it was only 80 degrees outside, they said the glass had to be defective. Of course I called Honda and they didn't own up to it. It's obviously a problem! It's just sad to see that such a reputable brand name can be so SORRY!!!! I won't be buying another HONDA, that's for sure!

windshield shattered windshield shattered windshield shattered

My Honda Odyssey was parked outside and the back windshield exploded into millions of pieces. After calling to get a quote from a Louisiana Glass the guy Ken tells me this is the third Odyssey this week that the back windshield has exploded. One of the three Odysseys glass exploded twice in one week and the guy was driving when it happened. Glass flew 10 feet inside and outside. Honda is obviously not owning up to there faulty back window and will not cover it under warranty. This is a safety issue and Honda needs to step up. I am driving a Honda not a Kia although it may be safer if I was in the Kia. If my wife were driving with the kids when this happened it may have caused her to lose control and have an accident. The explosion is real loud and shoots glass inwards toward the passengers. If you are looking to buy a Honda I think you should do a little research. I also had problems with the brakes when it was brand new, this was covered however I did not like the fact they had to cut the rotor cause this has reduced the life of the disc rotors. But that is a whole other story. Please view the pictures I have posted they are identical to others I have seen on the internet.

Odyssey ES

  • Automatic transmission
  • 8,000 miles

I was at a red light with 2 cars in front of me. As the light turned green and I moved from brake to the gas pedal, I heard a loud pop. All of the sudden the windshield just shattered into tiny pieces. Nothing had hit the windshield. I brought my car to Pacific Honda (San Diego) to have the Service Manager look at it but it was like talking to a service apprentice. He took one short look at it and said it was not covered under warranty. My car is a 2006 Odyssey with 8,000 miles.

I've called the Honda Customer Care center and have logged this incident to their Regional Case Manager.
