I stepped out of the car for less than 5 minutes and returned to find my son's neck entangled in the middle seat belt in the second row. I tried to release the belt at the base connection but because it had retracted so much it had locked. I tried to get him to turn to get out of it but the belt was too tight and continued to retract and lock with any movement. It was so tight the capillaries around his eyes and on his face and neck had burst leaving red bumps. Red lines were evident around his neck and a bruise the size of a half dollar where the belt had twisted was visible. I had to cut the belt in order release him. While the latch for the belt can be used to release the belt at the base connection there also needs to be something on the seat itself that can be used to release it instead of the actual latch itself. That way if it locks the belt can still be released. I called the dealership to get the belt replaced and explained the situation. I told her I felt Honda should be responsible for paying for a new belt because I feel it is a design flaw. I was told if it was truly an issue Honda would have issued a recall. I am going to announce this to any and all sites possible. Not sure if they have corrected the issue in later models but this is a terrible issue.
