I have a 2009 hyndai Accent. My brake lights are going on and off. After researching online I found that there was a recall for brake light switches. I called my local hyndai dealership and they stated that my VIN # was not under the recall. Leading me to believe that they did not make the recall large enough to cover all the cars that are affected by this malfunction. The dealership is now wanting $175 to replace this. There was no accident or anything that would have caused this issue in my car.

I noticed my vehicle's brake light switch was faulty after bringing in my car for an oil change. After coming home and noticing it, I realized that there was a recall on the same exact part for my make model year (Hyundai Accent 2009). After calling the local dealership, they said that it was not covered underneath the recall. I am skeptical that Hyundai made there recall large enough to cover all of the impacted vehicles, thus this post. It looks like other owners are having similar issues as well:
