Cherokee V6

  • Automatic transmission

I had the car for about 3 weeks. During week 3, the transmission started having trouble switching between gears. Specifically, slowing down and getting back into first, the car would initially speed up to about 23 MPH and then switch into 1st and slow down. Also, it would have trouble getting into reverse and I would have to toggle it between N and R to get it to kick into reverse. Finally, the Service Transmission message came on the screen and the car would not get out of first gear. I had to drive it to the Dealer's service center at about 8 MPH. They have had the car for coming up on 3 weeks now and they are replacing the transmission. It is ridiculous that Jeep ships these cars knowing that the transmissions are failing on them. I am hoping to get the car back by the end of this week. Fingers crossed that this will resolve the issue once and for all.

Cherokee Latitude AWD 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 600 miles

Read complaints about Jeep 2014 transmission issues, but heard that they were gone away with transmission replacement, so hoped that in 2015 will be free of those. Didn't happen :(

Overall, Jeep Cherokee is a great car, love it. Just this transmission issue is really annoying and disappointing.

The dealer in Santa Cruz is pleasant to work with. I hope the updated replacement transmission fixes the problem.

Cherokee Limited 3.2L V6

  • Manual transmission
  • 1,532 miles

Bought a 2015 Jeep on 10/30/2014 and six weeks later on 11/12/2014 I brought the vehicle to the dealership's service department because the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT was on and I keep receiving alternating messages that something was wrong with the TRANSMISSION and the PARKING BREAK/SENSOR.

After the service department consulted with Jeep's technical staff (engineers), I was told several things had to be done to resolve the problem (didn't work) and finally they told me that the Jeep's technical staff (engineers) instructed them to replace the TRANSMISSION.

This Jeep was purchased NEW with 26 miles on it and six weeks later with 1500 miles the TRANSMISSION has to be replaced?

I'm reaching out to see if anyone else has encountered a problem like this with their 2014 or 2015 Jeep Cherokee.

Update from Mar 28, 2015: I registered a complaint with Chrysler (received the phone number from the service advisor) when I was told by the my service advisor that my 2015 Jeep Cherokee that I had for 6 week and only driven 1532 miles needed a new brake module and they had to replace the complete transmission. This whole ordeal took 3 week.

Two days after I picked up my Cherokee from the service department, I got a call from Chrysler's Resolution Team (this was the group that was handling my complaint) and I was informed that Chrysler was going to replace my Jeep Cherokee with any Dodge, Chrysler, Fiat or Jeep of my choice and a replacement coordinator would get in touch with me.

There was no cost to me (taxes, fees and/or etc.) as long as the MSRP of the new vehicle did not exceed the MSRP of the old vehicle or I would have to pay the difference. If the MSRP was less, they would have given me money back. The only aggravation I encounter was the time it took to replace the vehicle but it was the holiday season and winter/snowy months.
