Service shifter appeared and I reset by pulling over shutting off vehicle, opening door and re-insert key and start. Was happening once a month, now happens every time I drive. Can't view any vehicle information as it freezes the screen. Happens regardless of where I am driving. Will even happen on a remote start sitting idle.
My vehicle is at 86,500 miles and the service shifter message has come up on my dashboard more than once now and from what I can find, there is no solid or permanent fix for it at this time. I would like the be able to fix my car and not have to worry about this issue again.
My 2016 Jeep service transmission light appeared then the next thing I had no acceleration on the expressway. Seems like there was no power on the gas petal and the car was just not going. I was in the middle of rush hour and could not get off the expressway. After a couple of minutes of me pressing down on the gas petal it finally worked. I immediately got off the expressway. On the way home every time I would stop the same thing would occur, but this time I would turn off and on the vehicle and it seemed to reset and work again. I have taken the vehicle to the shop were they said it was tcm which they updated/reset, but they also told me this would have to be done every couple of years because chysler does updates and unfortunately we have to pay the dealership to have this updated for us or we will have issues. Well I had everything updated then after a couple of hours with my vehicle once again the "service transmission" light reappeared. Now they are saying it is the tcm that needs to replaced. The vehicle has only 58,470 miles, this is ridiculous that we have to pay for these updates and that the VIN number is not on the list to have these issues fixed by chysler. I have read up on this and I am not the only one this has happened to. If I would have known how much trouble I would have with a Jeep/chysler product, I would never have bought it.
Service shifter light came on with all the gear lights lit up too. Vehicle was parked when lights first came on. Took it to the dealership and the service dept. Said that the shifter box and wires need replaced. Service dept. Says Cherokee are known for this. Vehicle only has 49700 miles.
The service transmission light and check engine light keeps comming on had it in the shop twice and they can not find a problem. I do not trust the car to take a trip in and that is why I bought it. It started when I first bought it and it still is doing
Service shifter issues, this is my fourth time needing to repair/replace the bezel and harness.. dash says service shifter and all lights from park, drive, reverse etc light up red while driving at which time must pull vehicle over and restart to reset it until repaired. This has happened to me 4 times now beginning in 2016, 2017, 2019, and again now in 2020. I see a lot of complaints on line with this issue and would like to suggest perhaps putting out a recall on this issue.
Fuel pump failure causing emmision purge tank to fill with fuel causing $1700 repair bill. Transmission shifts with sudden jerk unexpectedly almost causing whip lash.
Service shifter light comes on instrument panel as well as all the lights on shifter itself. This has happened while driving on I 69, placing it in park, and also when starting the vehicle. The pictures included are dated 6/13/2020 but this has happened numerous times since and that wasn't the first time it happened. Did report to watermark Toyota in madisonville, ky when we got the oil changed on 9/4/2020 and they said couldn't it to show a code. We will need to bring in when it is showing "service shifter"
While driving down the highway at 65 miles per hour, my vehicle dinged and the speedometer display showed service shifter. I look at the gear shift, which was still in drive, and all the lights were on. This has happened repeatedly over the past year or so at random times: On the highway while driving, while at stop signs, when starting the car for the first time of the day. Sometimes I will go weeks without a problem, other times I will go minutes. The current work around is to shut the car off and turn it back on.
Service shifter light came on at around 29K miles or so. Had it serviced at a Jeep dealer with my maxcare warranty and I'm now at 33K miles and the service shifter came back on. I've read on forums that many people have had this issue. I'm paying a lot of money for this car and it's ridiculous to have to deal with this issue after getting it fixed. The first time the light came on it wasn't reading that it was in park. Now it comes on whenever I'm driving. I've read that this issue has caused some people to have to replace a transmission.
I was driving my 2016 Jeep Cherokee and the service transmission came upon my dash message center and the engine light came on. My truck started driving badly, but I was able to make home. Now, the engine like keep randomly coming on and my truck keep shutting off whenever it please!!!!!!
Service shifter warning light. Comes on periodically. Turning off the car and restarting it does not change it at all. Started shortly after purchasing car and has continued to happen every couple of months. I've replaced the thermostat and done regular maintenance, none of which have helped the situation. I have not had the shifter service yet because the light eventually goes away. However I'm very worried.
My car started up fine then I was leaving a parking lot and my car literally stopped and died. I turned the key and my car wouldn't start up. I waited again and it still wouldn't start. I thought it was my battery so I had someone use jumper cables I waited a little bit longer and my car started up. Then the next day I drove it to the dealer ship then my husband was told when the oil gets to low the car automatically dies there are no warning signs, there's nothing you can do to fix this problem and that it's very common in my type of Jeep. So I've been checking my oil and every 2 days I have to put oil in my car because I'm scared that my car will stop on a major high way.because there was no way to fix this and I don't know where the oil is going in my car.
Single click heard from brake area at the end of braking. Doesn't happen if you turn of stability control or put into snow or sport mode. Dealership cant find reason for loud click. Rotors and pads replaced, happens about 50% of times braking.
Service shifter light comes on and my shifter where the R and D are light up red. It happens when ever I turn the car on it randomly happens then if I shut my car of it goes away and comes back
I turned on my vehicle getting ready for work when a message reading 'service shifter' appeared while the lights on the shifting settings lit up. I looked up the problem online and found that it's been a common thing happening to other Jeep Cherokee owners. I was in my driveway, stationary when this happened and now I can't go to work until it is fixed because I'm concerned that if I drive around too much a more serious issue may occur.
