The shifter has been replaced twice on the vehicle; the first time in warranty (2018) and the second time this weekend where I needed to pay out of pocket. (June 2019) at random times, the service shifter message appears and the entire shiftier panel lights up. The car accelerates by itself and sometimes the car jerks forward especially when the car is in park or I am on the brakes.in rush hour highway traffic, bumper to bumper traffic or local traffic same thing. I can be doing 20 mph or 75 mph and the error message appears. I reported this to my rick hendricks Jeep dealer and they said they seen it before as well as napleton in Florida. I also looked online and see that multiple 2016 -2018 Jeep owners reported the same issue once the car is more than 10,000 miles. The car changes gear by itself.

Driving to work this morning, turn into a busy road and my lights started flashing on the dash and said that you can't shift gears while in motion.. obviously I hadn't done that.. took 3 mins just to get the car to turn off since everything was locked up.. let it sit once off, didn't want to start.. did it again and finally it started and the lights were no longer lit up! do the recall already! obviously with all the other complaints it's a Jeep issue, not an operator issue..

My 2017 Jeep Cherokee with little under 45,000 stalled this morning on my way to work. The car lost steering/braking control. The battery light came on and stated I needed to shift to park then to desired gear. My Jeep would not run at this point. I had to wait a good 5 minutes until I was able to attempt starting my vehicle. However, when attempting to start the vehicle it did not start on the first 2 tries. The 3rd time it finally started. Furthermore, after letting my vehicle sit and cool once I got to my work location which is 40 miles away. I and another co worker checked the oil, and the oil barely registered on the dipstick. I will be going to get the oil changed again since the oil was dark and smelled burnt. This is not the first time I've had issued with the Jeep Cherokee. The other instance all the shifting gears on the console lite up and a message on the dash stated to shift into the desired gear. This too happened while I was driving. This is unsafe, especially in the first instance whereas you lose all control of your vehicle. I have called the dealership to have the vehicle checked out; however, they are unable to get my vehicle serviced until 2 weeks after this occurrence.

This problem has occurred at least 4 times in a 2 week period. While driving on service streets a pinging noises goes off..the battery light a lightening bolt and shift into drive appears and lasts a few seconds. The steering wheel gets very heavy and hard to turn. The vehicle turns off! the radio continues to play. I cannot shift into park. When I try to turn the ignition it makes a screeching noise..after the second attempt it usually will restart. This is very dangerous and I am afraid to get behind the wheel of my car!

While the vehicle has been running and in motion on city streets, the engine will cut off. The car is left without power steering and without power braking. The car must be placed in park to restart thus necessitating the need to come to a complete stop. This has occurred on four separate occasions and appears to be a problems other have on the same model (without resolution).

While driving this vehicle made a right hand turn and accelerated uphill. The car died and lost all systems including steering and limited braking. I took vehicle to dealer and found out this was due to low oil. This happened twice within 4 months. No oil indicator ever appeared in either instance. Said it was a safety feature to save engine but apparently not human lives. It as scary..I do not trust this vehicle and why is it consuming so much oil.

My Jeep has less than 30,000 miles on it and I keep up to date on oil changes (every 500 miles); however, when the 5,000 mile marker starts approaching I will be in driving in a forward motion and the dashboard will light up saying "shift to neutral or park", the gas pedal tightens up to the point I am no longer able to step on it anymore, and the steering wheel tightens up and I can no longer move that. At this point my vehicle just completely stops in the middle of driving. The most recent time (4,100 miles after my last oil change) I was attempting to merge onto the highway the other day and this same thing happened. It takes about 4 minutes for the car to start working again, but this is an extremely unsafe issue that should not be happening. I have had this issue happen multiple times in the past, and the dealership shrugged it off. I have had enough of this, a vehicle (even without a recent oil change, let alone a vehicle that is up to date on oil changes and hasn't hit the 5,000 mile marker) should not come to a complete stop in the middle of driving. This is a huge safety hazard. Obviously other people are experiencing the same issue. At any point, I feel as though my vehicle might stop working on me at a random time (again without any warning whatsoever) and cause me to be in a sever accident. This is not a matter to take lightly, I have been contacting my dealership and have yet to have any help/ issues resolved.

I was driving and the following happened: Jeep completely died while driving, battery light illuminated & the screen displayed "place in P, then select gear", I attempted it but I had no power, no ability to steer or brake. I was also broken down in on coming traffic and wasn't able to move. I had to put in neutral and push my Jeep out of the middle of the hwy. I'm 26 and 5'4. I'm scared for my life. I cried all the way to work. All I could see was getting impaled by a driver, getting killed and risking losing my 2 year old son! I'm not happy, I'm scared for my life and I have no idea what to do or where to turn! the dealership isn't answering my calls or responding to any messages! consumer stated problem was caused by piston rings were faulty.

On two occasions while flat towing the Jeep behind our rv the front end wobbled excessively and only stopped when we slowed to almost a stop. Both instances happened within 15 minutes of starting to travel in the morning and happened in construction zones where the pavement was rough. We had heard of this issue so we had the dealer install the mopar sterring harness when we bought the car. This was suppose to eliminate the problem but its clear it did not do so. After the last incident we took the car to a Jeep dealer who said the problem was the car battery and replaced it. I find it hard to believe that was the real cause since the battery was less than a year old. The dealer also showed us a notice recommending have a charger installed if towing the car more than 3 hours. (again, this doesn't account for our experiences since both of them occured within the first half hour).

While I was driving yesterday, my car died out on me. The car is only 6 months old. I was driving when the battery light began to flash and the car shut off on me. I had electrical power as the sterio was working, but the engine and power steering shut off without a check engine light. I was luckily able to coast into a parking lot and put the car in park. I 'shut it off' pulled the key fob from the ignition and tried to restart it. It had difficulty turning over and about after 39 seconds it turned over and started. Then everything was normal. The car died out on me while going 45 miles per hour on a very busy street and I could barely turn the wheel to get into a parking lot. After this happened the car went back to normal and no warnings were displayed. I went to my uconnect app and it did not register the issue or say there was any issues on the car. If this happens on an expressway this can be deadly and it jeeds to be addressed!

I have not even owned my vehicle a year now. I have never had an issue with steering shaking or pulling. I went to get my tires rotated for the first time at a local dealer and they stated the all 4 of my tires had all irregular wear on them on the inside of the tires only. It was believed to be a defect from the beginning with the alignment or another steering issue that has caused such irregular wear (including the rears). Per your warranty the tires are to be rotated every 6,000 miles. I had them rotated at 7,292 miles in which when brought into do a warranty claim Jeep claims that I didn't do the routine maintenance per the warranty claim so this would not be covered. My vehicle now has over 12,000 miles on it and was also told if it was an alignment issue that this is only covered until 12,000 miles. I am very unsatisfied with my warranty and do believe this was a defect with all 4 of my tires with such irregular wear.
