From 2010 to 2011, complaints about the vehicle not starting increased 10-fold. In fact, the 2011 model year is riddled with engine problems and a defective TIPM might be to blame. The TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) distributes power to all the eletrical components in the vehicle, so when it starts acting funny so do numerous other components in the car. Orders for new TIPMs were so abundant that parts became scarce, prompting a class-action lawsuit claiming Chrysler ignored this obvious defect.
By 2012 complaints dropped back down by about 80%. Needless to say, if you see a used 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee on a lot just keep walking.

There seems to be a pattern of Jeep problems for me right now since the warranty has run out.
This problem is about really 'EXPENSIVE PARTS'.
I need a 1 foot rod for my electric seat to move properly. It got damage when I set the menu to auto and the seat had something underneath that damage the rod like worm gear when it moved. I didn't expect it to move as I was just setting the menu.
I have to buy the the whole seat bottom frame for roughly $1000 plus installation about $350 plus 13% tax
I JUST NEED a 1 foot rod 1/4" thick with some thin wire wrapped around it. See photo
Maybe 20 + bucks for the part but Jeep can't sell it to me. They are trying to RIP ME OFF!
I have put several calls to Jeep Canada. But all they can say is sorry. It's not good enough.
They have the part in the first place for the Jeeps they sell. Why not make a few more rods, make a small $ profit on the part, and keep the customer happy. Maybe a strategy for repeat business and referral.
I bought an American made car because I thought the parts would be cheaper than the foreign car.
If anybody could sell me the just the rod I would be really happy!

Update from Jul 30, 2017: Problem not solved. Just got an email from another jeep owner who has the same problem. This is a complete rip off for the consumer. I will not be buying another jeep and have steered many people away from buying a Jeep for this reason. I'm going to contact consumer protection agencies. I just need a rod not a seat!
